Re: Which of these reels would you use for BFS?
The correct answer is Scorpion 1001 XT with gold colored accents because it'll look good as hell on that corzza. Out of the 3, if these were my reels, I'd swap the BFS parts from the Curado 51e into the Aldebaran MG7 because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if put I a green reel on burgundy rod...

Re: Grub Size
5" for me as well, either a yamamoto single tail grub or a kalin's (kalin's are infinitely more durable that the yamamoto)

Which of these reels would you use for BFS?
I have a few reels that could pull the BFS duty and am wondering what your thoughts would be for which you'd use and maybe why... Rod i'm using is a major craft corzza 6'7" L BFS likely using 6lb Silver Thread AN40. Will be tossing smaller cranks, jerkbaits, ned rigs, flick shake worms. Aldebaran 51...

Yo Zuri Ultra Soft?
Anyone use yo zuri ultra soft on their ultralight setup? i'm putting together a "beefy" ultralight setup and thought the 4lb ultra soft might be a good option for me. if it has a higher breaking strength like the regular hybrid line i should be more than set for my intentions. i'd like the setup to ...

Re: Pflueger Patriarch 9530 for UL?
I had the 30 and have the 25. The 25 is awesome for UL work, light as a feather. The 30 will suffice as well, definitely a featherweight for its size. i saw the 25 size last night at cabela's and it's a beauty. but even at the sale price of $129 i couldn't quite justify it for an UL rig that won't ...

Re: Pflueger Patriarch 9530 for UL?
that's kind of what i was thinking. it's a really light little reel.Smead wrote:I'd say that the 30 is fine...weighs 5.2 oz. and line capacity in mono is 140/4 120/6 90/8...which is about the same as Shimano 1000 size capacity of 2/270 4/140 6/110...a comparable Stradic weighs 6.9 oz.

Pflueger Patriarch 9530 for UL?
I'm looking into the possibility of building an UL rod for the few times i do some stream trout fishing with the old man... I have a pflueger patriarch 9530 and am wondering if that would suffice as the reel for this setup? I'm thinking about a rod in the 5'8" - 6'3" range that would handle baits fr...

Re: Braid lb for swimbaits

Re: Looking for a new daiwa spinning reel
i had a procyon that i purchased used and then a couple days later hoohoorjoo twisted my arm and made me buy his ballistic.... the ballistic is nice and light, very smooth on the retrieve. sold the procyon and kept the ballistic and never looked back.

Re: G Loomis rod ???
I'd advise you contact Gary at the Tackle Trap and get his help on picking one up (user name is bronzefly on here). He'll make you a square deal and offer some great hands on experience with whichever rod you're looking to buy. He answered dozens of questions from me when i was narrowing down the se...
