Can't help with the r-editon, currently own 103's and looking to purchase another 1 or 2. Please post where you are going to purchase if you go with the 103--all the places I know of are out of them.

I do not own a Sol but have 3 Alphas 103's (JDM version) that have never seen freshwater. The purple 103's have the crbb bearings, but any reel--saltwater rated or not ya gotta keep em clean. Been using them since 2007 without any problems wadefishing in Texas coastal bays.
