BFS baitcaster shootout, a personal journey

Thanks to TT I managed to spend thousands on BFS reels just to find the best (for me). 1. Started off with T3 MX with SV and RCS1012 spool. The SV spool is really great for an all around spool the RCS1012 had it's time and classed heavy in today's terms. They are still BFS in my mind but more like a...

Re: JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

After a few months use I can say I am not overly happy with the IP68. It feels solid and smooth but casting distance is really bad even vs Revo STX. My T3 is so much better, keep going back to that. Well live and learn...

Re: New Aldebaran and Metanium DC small pics and specs

What do you think the existing Avail (ALD0915R, ALD0936RR) spools for the old Aldebaran Mg will fit the new 2015 Aldebaran as well?
I would hate to buy new spools again...

Re: Daiwa Airedge 681/682mlb

I have the same rod 682MLB and use it with MB Zonda Hedgehog or Steez SV. I find it a very versatile finesse rod. I can easily cast down to 2-3g and there is plenty of backbone when you hook into something bigger. Absolutely love it, and for the price is a really good rod.

Re: Which finesse spool for td ito ?

I have Steez SV reel which is very versatile (no wonder the name :D ), still being able to cast down to about 3-4g comfortably and up to 1oz baits. I also have Megabass IS spool, I can go down to 2g easily and can cast 1/2" grubs with 0.5g jig head, a real gem. What I noticed with the MB spool that ...

Re: JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

I think the Alphas is a very versatile reel, it's small and light for flipping and pitching, it's a good caster for crank baits, plastics. You have a lot of options to tune it, use it for BFS with a shallow spool etc. Extra standard spools are cheap. You may be able to pick up used Alphas/sol at rel...

Re: JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

For me the best palming is the Alphas, next the Steez. I guess this is very personal because it depends on the size of your hands so you can only find out by trying it "hands on". I hope the Zillion is not wider than the T3 because that is my limit.

Re: JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

Ok, decided that will sell the Revo STX and Curado, and from the proceeds will get the Megabass IP68.

Gitzit tubes and hook sizes

Hello,
Is there size guide for tube and hook sizes.
I use 2.5" and 3.5" tubes and I have Eagle Claw Shaw HP hook in sizes 1, 1/0, 2/0.
Is it ok to use the size 1 with the 2.5" tube?
Also if you texas rig it with a wide gape hook, what is the best size to use?
Thank you.

Re: JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

Hi,
Thank you both for your replies. I have a Steez SV and an IS63 already and I find it too light on this rod, even the T3 is too light. A heavier reel above 7oz feels like balances the rod better.
Both your options would save me money :D , maybe I should just not bother about the balance.

JDM Shimano Antares vs Megabass IP68

I am thinking to upgrade my reel on the St Croix Legend Tournament Bass TBC68MHF jig& worm rod. I use this rod for 3/8 jigs with trailers like 3.5" and 4" Keitech Swing impact, T-rigged worms, shads 4-5" relax Kopyto, spinnerbaits. I currently use the rod with and Abu Revo STX or a Shimano Curado 20...

Re: T3 Users Club Feedback

Hiya, Thank you and thank you for the info. I may try braid on my SV now that since I use the T3MX , SV baitcaster (and less my Revo STX) I hardly throw any bird's nests. These reels are amazing, especially when you switch to long cast on the Magforce 3D its like hitting the Turbo Boost :D Anyone el...

Re: T3 Users Club Feedback

Hiya All, Quick question to all T3MX and T3SV users? Now that most of us had the opportunity to fish for a good season my question is what kind of line do use on your reels? I use both reels: T3MX 1016HL-TW with original spool: Berkley Trilene Transoptic 17lb T3MX 1016HL-TW with RCS1012 spool: Berkl...
