Re: carrying spare baitcaster spools

I always carry spare spools. This is the best option with the foam insert: you can fit two Daiwa or Shimano spools in one and separate them with another foam insert.

Re: Long distance topwater rod

Quick update on this. I got a Shimano Scorpion DC (2011 model) used (until the yen weakens and then the Antares will surely follow) and paired it with the Orochi XX Spinnerbait Special, I run it with 20lb braid, great combo a little bit more length would be good but happy with it so far. Funnily eno...

Re: Long distance topwater rod

Thank you all for the suggestions. I tried this weekend my FX68 with the IS71 spool and 20lb Powerpro. Man, that combo casts well, matches the distance of the spinning combo. I paired it with my flipping stick F7-77 destroyer, not the best long distance caster due the fast action but still very impr...

Re: Long distance topwater rod

Thank you all. TommyG, Goldrod: yes I had that feeling with the IP68 that the brakes are too strong. I have the same feeling with the IS71 vs standard Steez. I have 1016 spool I will try it in the FX68. If none works I will have to buy a new reel. :D Cracker, how did I measure it? Google maps has a ...

Long distance topwater rod

I fish a lake that is very shallow and very clear. I fish it from the shore but only accessible from certain spots. The only lure that works all year around (except when it's frozen:) is topwater. I need to cast 70 - 100 yards to get to the fish. I love using baitcaster but I had to go back to an 8f...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

What abut Quantum? I never used one but KVD is using them for more than 20 years and won a "few" tournaments. Just making me wonder why they are not so popular on TT?

Does anyone know what the IPT would be for the 7.7:1 gears? I know the 6.4:1 is 25 and the 7:1 is 28. Is 30 a safe guess?
77cm or 30 inches.

The honeycomb spools are stronger than you think. I have all the MB honeycomb spools (IS, Zonda, IP) and can highly recommend.

Re: outdated legendary tackle

I still have Abu Cardinal C3 and C4x, Abu Suveran, Abu Eon reels, Shimano Scorpion Metanium Mg (JDM) not used anymore, my daily workhorse is the Steez. Rods: half a lineup of the 2004 MB Destroyer, Evergreen Tactics, Abu Classic Tournament. Still all going strong.

Re: Bfs rod for cranking?

I have 3 BFS cranking combos: - G.Loomis CBR 781 will cast modern crankbaits (with weight transfer) down 1/8 oz and has plenty of power to even stop a 8lb pike -Megabass Evoluzion F1.1/2-66ti Exparda, this rod is just amazing casting cranks 1/8-1/4, although has more power reserve than F1.1/2 -Megab...
