Re: Need help for a megabass swimbait rod
I used to have the SRD also and while a nice stick it topped out at 5-6 oz imo. The TS rods are very different, much heavier duty. The original TS-78 does share that same short handle though so obviously not what you are after.

Re: Need help for a megabass swimbait rod
I have the original TS-78x and those baits are all right in the zone for it. I will say that I find it a bit much for lures down at the 4oz end of its suggested range. It will cast the smaller ones just fine but feels overpowered working them especially Glide baits as they don’t have much water resi...

Re: Shallow spool?
I use plumbing thread tape (PTFE). It is extremely thin, stretches around the spool, and compresses under the line. It offers a little bit of grip but doesn’t have any adhesive to be left behind on your spool when you change it. Spools large enough for mono backing get line, but for super shallow sp...

Re: Digitaka - Stradic and Exsence
You are correct, they are the “same” HG with identical line capacity and compact frames. Even Shimano has them labeled the same way on their Japanese site (one MHG and one HGM), who knows why...

Hi Gary,
I’m not seeing the LH kits when I look on your site. Are they out of stock already? Hoping for to pick up a couple.

Re: Spinning reel question
So I just checked and my 1000, C2000, and C3000 are all the same size. Through different years and models the foot length is constant (all shimano). I don’t have a non compact 3000 to compare to.

Re: Megabass Simoom or SHABBLER ?
The power should be plenty for hooksets. The Simoom is the same power (F3.5) and I have had no problems with either walleye or pike. It's the same listed power at 3.5, but in my hands, the Simoom fishes at least 1/2 power heavier, as is common with X7 blanks when compared to many other series. None...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner recommendation.
I am thinking I may get one like this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Stainless-Steel-10L-Liter-Industry-Heated-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-Heater-Timer/172240320854?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 I think the larger size will allow me to clean the carbs from my small engines in additi...

Re: Megabass Simoom or SHABBLER ?
I haven't handled the shabbler but I had considered purchasing one when they were out to use as a hard bait stick. I do think it might be slower than you want action wise. The Simoom does have the action you are looking for and I use mine for Walleye with jig heads from 1/8 - 3/8 plus a plastic soft...

Re: Flourocarbon leader
I think you will find that any fluoro leader material will be superior to line. I used to think they were just selling you less line for more money but having tested for a couple of seasons I am a firm believer that the leaders are more abrasion resistant and stronger at the knot for a given size. I...

Re: Exsence dc xg
It is my understanding that the only difference between the new Excense DC and the Antares DC is the use of materials that resist saltwater corrosion. You can find the TT review of the Antares here: http://tackletour.com/review16shimantaresdc.html I would expect them to fish the same but no hands on...

Ultrasonic cleaner recommendation.
Hi All, I am looking to pick up an ultrasonic cleaner to add to my reel maintenance supplies but I’m not sure what to buy. When I look back to older posts the last replies I see were from 2014 and were for Umax branded ones which aren’t available where I have been looking. Here are my questions: Is ...
