Nautilus, Welcome to the forum... just FYI, the Alphas Ito Ai debuted about a year after the standard Alphas. Mhood, I'd go for that Sol.. get a forged handle (TDZ) to replace the stock stamped metal handle or a carbon one (my preference), some bearings in the knobs, SIC Bearings, a gold I'ZE spool ...

so.. Conquest 101 or Antares AR?
The Antares AR is definitely smoother and easier casting. Both have short handles. But I like my Conquest reel more.. especially when you talk about the 51/50 size.

I tested mine out at about 4-5 lbs max drag... stock handle on the Conquest 101 is 70mm.
