Re: Rod sensitivity Loomis vs Loomis

Loomis definitely squeezed some more sensitivity out of the BCR's, but I don't notice a substantial difference.

Re: Question for people with top end stuff (steez/MB/GC/etc)

I find that all my reel and rod scars come when they are not being fished. Whether it be throwing your rod down after landing a fish, getting boat rash during a run that you didn't bother to throw your reel covers on, or shutting your rod in the car door; all have nothing to do with fishing 100%. I ...

Re: Best use for TDZ 105H

I remember when Cabella's put these on sale. People were buying them popcorn at the movies. I commented on the low line capacity. You would have thought I cursed in church. Now I think that all the hoopla has quieted down, folks are seeing just why these reels were "excessed" in the first place. Th...

Re: Best use for TDZ 105H

Best pitching reel I've used to date. It is fine for 10lb mono and under for long casting applications if you choose. At the first of Cabelas sale, you could buy either the high capacity 103h or lower capacity 105h. I purchased 4 105's and 2 103's. The 105 is perfect for pitching with expensive fluo...

Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..

I do fish pointers and slender pointers, but my first experience with the x-rap was at a club tournament after a brutal cold front. It was April and warm... fish were starting to bed...everything was great, and then a cold front brought 40 degree temps and 30-40mph north winds tournament day. The fi...

Re: My First Time With Dobyns

We got into a heck of a frog bite and I wound up catching an 8, (actually 7lbs 12ozs) in heavy lillypads on 12lb test Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon! I know I shouldn't have been throwing it in there but I was trying to prove a point! A little OT, but I had two rods with me while on 'foot patrol' at a...

Re: Daiichi bleeding bait hooks trebles cabela's

That is all I buy. I've fished with the Daiichi's for 3 years now, and I like them equally to the Gammy 2x trebles I was using. I prefer the Daiichi 4x trebles, which will hold a point longer than any hook I have found. Daiichi 100pks are a bargain...their worm hooks are more expensive than owners i...

Re: the perfect G loomis MBR783c reel

The Calais is just too heavy...smooth as butter but just feels like an Anvil. I think the mg50 is the perfect 783 reel; it's light and balances the rod well, will cast a broad range of baits, and has adequate power for the rod in question.

Re: alphas question

I like the Scorpion better (regular; not the mg). The Scorpion has an IPT of 21" I believe, and were perfect mates for my CBR's. They cast light weight cranks better than a stock Alphas as well. My only gripe and the reason I sold mine were the short handles (which doesn't bother some), but I regret...

Re: New Pixy and rod

Good insite. I said I'm done trying new rods, but I still have the desire to buy new stuff. I love the way my Loomis rods fish, but I want some style dammit! I wish you lived close to my so I could get a feel of one of those abu rods. If they fish have as good as they look, I imagine they would be a...

Re: casting shoot-out! PIXY,CQ51 and ALPHAS 103

Yes Gameover, I mean in light weight casting ability. Don't take my post wrong...I love my Alphas, but they serve another niche in my arsenal. It isn't really a fair comparison, because the Alphas hold so much more line. Line is heavy. We are always talking spool weight on here, but line capacity is...

Re: casting shoot-out! PIXY,CQ51 and ALPHAS 103

Even the supped up Alphas can't compete with the Pixy. I have two Alphas with Ize' spools and ceramic bearings, and also two airy red pixys. The pixys smoke'em.

Here are my Alphas...

Re: New Pixy and rod

I'm considering the Regista FCR-7011 Light Flip II to use with my Smak Red Tune 100R. Extra fast blank..should be comparable to the Loomis BCR series. Maybe the action could be comparable, but I can't imagine the sensitivity would be even close. That is unless these $200ish Abu's are more sensitive...

Re: so many new Loomis rods for sale - why?

Maybe because people are making a mistake. Expensive rods are addictive...once you buy a Croix Premier, you want an IMX. Once you have an IMX, you want to upgrade to GLX's. That was the case for me, and as humans we always think the grass is greener. The hot lookin' JDM rods are just better...I mean...

Bahh...I guess I just have too much self repect to buy from a company like megabass. Reminds me of the hot girls I've met that just can't stay away from the guys that treat them like crap.
