Re: Aldebaran Tough to Dial In?

For that BFS rod, what size line will you be using? Anything larger than 8lb fluoro, ~0.24mm dia, I'd opt for the 30. Ald BFS holds about 50m of 8lb sniper/shooter. I've spooled to the halfway mark on 100m shooter spools. 8 lb Fluoro is what I was thinking, max. Maybe 6 lb. Not sure exactly. Sunlin...

Re: Conquest SE Brake Dial

That sux...I wouldn't even mess with it and risk damaging something. Send it back for a replacement. You are probably right. Just feel bad because now I will have returned a Conquest SE and a Stradic 2000SHG. Both Shimanos from Digi and I'm thinking they assume I'm just doing it for free shipping. ...

The little silver screw just spins on this one. My gold 100HG is dry and tight for this mechanism, the new one is tight but so greasy. Almost like grease wasn't supposed to go there. Just spins, won't adjust

Conquest SE Brake Dial

So I hate to always find something wrong, but I cannot adjust my brakes on my new Conquest SE. The outside dial turns WAY too easy and the little gear that moves the brake cone doesnt move. The tiny Phillip's head screw moves though. Thinking maybe it is just loose? Either way, now i know why I kept...

Re: Daiwa Tatula 300 Question

I eventually would like to get a 5.3 300 for A-rigs and bigger swimbaits. What gear ratio do you have? I got the 7:1 for swimbaits big topwater and magnum cranks - it's going on a 9ft XH rod so the faster IPT will help me work the lures w/o having to swing the rod tip. I don't think you need 5:1 ra...

Re: Calcutta Conquest SE

I ran 12lb Daiwa J Fluoro Hidden. Got about 65 yards or so, maybe a bit more. I know after backlashing I only had like 20 yards. Also thinking my tension knob being crazy loose made that engagement feel weird and make the reel throw so loosely. I really didn't expect that J Fluoro to fill it anyways...

Re: Daiwa Tatula 300 Question

Lol I have other 300 sized reels - this one's drag is special. I should have known that, not sure why I thought you wouldn't have felt other 300 reels. I eventually would like to get a 5.3 300 for A-rigs and bigger swimbaits. What gear ratio do you have? I was most surprised and proven wrong a whil...

Re: Daiwa Tatula 300 Question

My guess would be that because you are testing it, the reel's drag range is more on the lower end rather than closer to the max. I am just guessing, but I would guess a reel with such a high drag rating would feel good at test ranges. Now if you are talking about while fish are pulling, maybe they h...

Re: Calcutta Conquest SE

Got a decent day in with the new SE yesterday. I will say I made a critical mistake, twice. I guess my tension knob wasn't tight enough, hard to tell these days with Silent Tune springs putting constant tension. Backlashed pretty good earlier on in the day. Was able to pick that one out, adjusted ag...

Re: Calcutta Conquest SE

Is the reel super smooth? Is it the same size as the conquest 100 to old school 50? It is extremely smooth. My 100HG always felt like a bearing might be a little buzzy somewhere, but not so far on this 30HG. As far as size it is 100% the same reel as the 100HG other than color and a shallow spool. ...

https://i.postimg.cc/HWfmnbsh/20240201-102509.jpg Just got mine in. Super, super greasy. Had another angler I know play with the reel in hand and ask why it was so tight. I turned the handle and a click happened then the reel was smooth again. I hate to complain but it was odd. You have to barely t...

Re: All new steez sv tw

At this price point what they should have is a carbon handle. How is it that some alphas air stream, px68 or the alphas type r had a carbon handle, but not Daiwa's flagship that approach 1k usd? This applies to shimano as well, but that company has been using nothing but ugly handles made out of me...

Re: Calcutta Conquest SE

Ordered mine today!!! Very excited to have my second Conquest. Considering buying a BFS version eventually just to say I have one, will be hard to do though cause my little Aldebaran has been tough. I still hope Daiwa releases a new Ryoga. I really like round reels. I noticed the Millionaire was bac...

Re: Ticking Sound-Stradic FM

Since you mentioned it above, I have and love love love my Gekkabijin X. It has quickly become my favorite eggbeater. I have it on a 2 pc ML rod that stays in the xterra. I've used it extensively, and I've caught some 4-6# fish with it. I have zero complaints, and it is still as smooth as day one. ...
