call me stupid
but I just use the VMC hooks. that they won't let my braid loose is why. started about 3-4 years ago. I use the heavy duty for about everything plastic
I think I have landed 3 of 4 double digit bass on these babies so can't find a reason to go another direction

Re: Kistler rods?
the price not a factor to me as they typically prompt me into buying when they run a sale Overall though, I'm a fan of the Helium 3 and the zbone. I fished the zbones for my primary rods during a 10 day trip to Florida back in Nov. The more bites and the more fish landed the more my confidence grew....

Re: medium vs medium light heavy kistler helium 3, or other option?
I own the HE3 7'3 H you have plus two z-bone heavy power rods from 2017 and 2019. My preference in Florida is to use the H rod for worms by default. I fish mostly out of a boat but find the longer H rod helpful for landing fish on the banks of small lakes and ponds. For moving baits and topwaters, I...

Re: Punching Rods....Help me find the one.
I have a 2019 Kistler zbone 7'10H that is very very good for intended application. I'd say the rod is a more moderate action but to me it fishes like a fast action- feels similar to my NRX 894 with a bit longer and a bit stronger. bought it to punch but have been fishing it with heavy t-rigs as the ...

Re: G. Loomis GLX 782C MBR for jerkbaits
I have not fished a jerkbait in like 5 years so I had almost forgotten until I read this last few posts how good the original Steez 6'3MH is for bigger jerbaits. to hold it it feels like the 782 but at least the power of the 783 with just slightly slower tip If you are fishing 1/2oz and up jerkbaits...

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
a 2000 ish to 2011 era GLX MBR would have had a relatively ugly black but cap on the back of the rear grip.

Re: G. Loomis GLX 782C MBR for jerkbaits
I can't say a word about a 2020 loomis glx. In 2010, the 782 was a beast of another color totally. The 842, 843, and 783 all fish similar to me. I felt the 842 was only a shade less powerful then the 843. In fact, one trip I felt the hook up % with the 843 better then that of the 842. The 782 by com...

Re: IMX PRO 845C CBR or 847C CBR
i have a custom cb847 with split grip and spiral wrapped bought on this board in roughly 2005. Just such a beautiful rod that I have not sold it yet have not fished it in years. bit too short for a deep diver. To me more a big spinnerbait, topwater or chatterfrog rod. Far more accurate then my longe...

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
i still use my glx bcr 803 all the time. mostly 1/4 jigs and plastic. im in the minority for sure but i love the recoil guides. the glx mbr 783 is used sometimes, mostly roll casting spinnerbaits to timber. i throw small paddletails on swimbait jigheads on the 842 occasionally. the others get let u...

Re: G. Loomis GLX 782C MBR for jerkbaits
since I fish florida almost always now have not thrown a jerkbait in 5 years. BUT, my old memory says that 782 starts to top out at 3/8oz. Once the bait is in the water, the difference in weight makes no difference as you know but on the cast if the new 782 is like the old you may feel the rod sligh...

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
old glx graphite are competitive with today's best. The bcr 803 glx was and is as sensitive a rod I've fished with FC line. The 843 remains in my rotation to this day.

Re: G. Loomis GLX 782C MBR for jerkbaits
My old school 782 was perfect for small to medium jerkbaits in my hand. 842 and 843 not as good for that application but far better when a stiffer tip is needed
