Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

I found the email: The DSR820C will weigh in roughly around 3.97oz. We use a blend of graphite’s for this rod which will closely resemble in action and weight to the IMX. I followed it up with a phone conversation that I don't have any records (except my feeble memory) to quote. Again, I don'...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

Sorry Cal, didn't mean to use your name in vain ;-) I did approach Loomis about the construction of the DS820C and was told the graphite is a witch's brew of IMX butt and GLX tip...sounded fishy to me, but that's what a factory rep said. I also *hate* the silly graphics Loomis is putting on their ne...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

kistlers with pacbay reel seats and amtak guides Now we're getting somewhere :-) Since I feel there is *very* little difference between GLX and IMX (based on personal experience) and most folks who have tried GLX, IMX & Kistler LTA rank the Kistler either between the IMX and GLX or right beside the...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

If you are going to knock a product, you should have a least owned one or did the reasearch to back it up, not just the company line. Otherwise, you really don't know what the hell you are talking about.
That's about all I was trying to say...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

Sorry if I came off a little hypocritical. and anti-Kistler by pointing out the simple fact that a true comparison can't be made minus experience with all of the various rods being compared. Thanks Carpbell, for recognizing this. As I said, I've yet to get my first Kistler. I'm torn between a Kistle...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

well...perhaps Trey will get you a GLX to use this season so when you make statements like: I have been using Kistler Helium rods and they ate the most sensitive rods I have ever seen and Why would I want to pay more money for a rod that is just as good as a Helium? and just because I am on their Pr...

Re: Order of sensativity ...rods?

I don't have a Kistler (yet!) but I do have Loomis GLX and IMX. Can't argue with your order but, from my experience, there is *very* little difference between the GLX and IMX. Both are the most sensitive rods I have ever fished with by a mile and with my eyes closed I'm not sure I could tell the dif...

Re: What is the most versitile rod? NOT BRAND

My fav is Loomis MBR 783 IMX. You can look up the specs on the GLoomis web site. It's a great all-purpose 6.5' rod with MH action.

Re: UL Baitcasting Advice

What do you think of the Yozuri xtex line? I've been using Yozuri Hybrid exclusively but was thinking about trying the xtex in the 4-8 pound range. I had a friend suggest having a custom rod made from a GL GLX SJR 722 blank...what do you think of a custom UL baitcastier made from a great spinning ro...

Re: UL Baitcasting Advice

Thank you Cal, and please forgive me for using my first post to tell you what "I" have narrowed my selections down to. I'm wanting to assemble the "finest UL baitcasting rig" I can and would really appreciate your advice. I've heard talk of a Shimano DC 50 and, being deeply in love with my DC200, I ...

UL Baitcasting Advice

I'm about to pounce on a new UL baitcaster rig and am seeking advice before I do. I've settled on a Daiwa Pixy reel and have narrowed the rod selection down to either a G Loomis DSR820C or a Kistler LTA He66MLC. Either rod will give me a rig that weighs less than 10 oz. The Kistler is rated down to ...
