Re: 2015 Aldebaran BFS XG LTD

You can use braided line on the BFS model. All Shimano reels are approved for use with braided line. We do own a little company called Power Pro. I'm sure you have heard of them. 10 pound is perfect. Plus with the reduced weight of braided line it makes for a lighter spool weight overall. Sweet! Th...

Re: The PX68's magforce Z, stronger drag, and the ability to

Good stuff. Thank you. The PX68's magforce Z, stronger drag, and the ability to use braid makes it a great BFS bass reel. Are you saying that you can't use 10lb braid with the Alde LTD? If so I had missed that. Sorry for the delay. I had an extended weekend of fishing & golfing. Shimano only states...

Re: New Tube Rod for River Smallies and OccassionalLM

At one time, my buddy had four G Loomis SMR 882S-SP Bronzeback rods. It seemed like a great tube rod for river smallies. He would only fish with a 1/16 to 1/4 tubes. I would also check out the Dobyns DX742SF or Legend Elite LES76MF / LES76MLXF. Currently, I'm using a Dobyns DX702 casting rod, with b...

Re: 2015 Aldebaran BFS XG LTD

The Alde LTD casts lighter lures farther and easier than my presso, airy red pixy and/or PX68. When the wind picks up, the Diawa reels are much more manageable. Fishing from a SOT kayak, with open scrupper holes, I get paranoid opening up the Shimano to adjust the brakes. Unlike the standard Aldebar...

Re: 7'6" IMX Spinning Rod + 4000 Stradic = Freshwater SHARK

Couldn't agree with you more. That looks like a blast. Seems like I always have a salmon fishing buddy arguing with me that bass fishing is boring and salmon fishing is more challenging and fun. How fun is it dragging a fish behind the boat with a bunch of weighted lead core or a flopping dipsy dive...

Re: BFS baitcaster shootout, a personal journey

Nice find on the SLP small trout stream tune. I noticed they mention "immobilization inductor rotor" for 2 - 7g lures (Google translation). I'm assuming they're modifying the spool to have a fixed inductor rotor. This would offer less casting distance, but more control for light lures. Got to get a ...

Re: Megabass XX Rod Choice Help

Flip a coin, and pull the trigger on one of them. If you don't like the rod, I'll buy it from you. I probably live a minute away from you.

Let me know if you need any U-40 cork seal.

Re: NRX compared to Adrena

Earlier this month, I had the privilege to try out the Adrena 610MH & the Expride 610M for a day. The Expride worked well with medium sized jerkbaits, but it felt slow in action with verly little backbone. The slow action did help prevent smallies from coming unbuttoned. Also, my pixy didn't mount t...

Re: Recommendation for beginner Kayak?

Best bang for the buck would be the Perception Pescador Sport 10 or 12. It's basically a 2008 Wilderness Systems Tarpon. You can find them for $499 to $599 or even less on sale. All the big name sporting stores sell this yak. http://www.perceptionkayaks.com/product/index/products/recreational/pescad...

Re: Finesse Rod med or med hvy?

Medium will work. I like a fast action and not an xfast as the tip is too fast. The two rods I use are a DX742 and a Megabass X4 Super Mirage. Both throw weightless flukes and 4" senkos well. I have used a PX68 on both and like 10lb fluoro. Compared to the DX742, how's the sensitivity of the Super ...

Re: Ultra Finesse Baitcasting rods.

Congrats on getting the SS Air. I would love to have a USDM option, but I can't see that happening. There's not enough demand. It would be like asking Ford or GM to develope/build/market a car in America, which would only appeal to 1% of US population. As you already know, large companies build for ...

Re: Alphas ITO Engineering

It's a great all purpose reel, as long as you're comfortable with the slower IPT. The design of the reel is simple & light. It's casting ability was almost on par with the Pixy. Enjoy!
