Re: Light line leader connection
Never had issues with the improved albright knot, I usually do 6-8 wraps up, and down. I've used this knot for 6 pound line, never had an issue if tied correctly.

Re: Flourocarbon leader
I use Sunline Super FC Sniper as my leader material. I've also tried PLine Tactical and had no complaints either.

Interested in this rod too since I've had some great experiences on the water with the M1 blank, so if it's anything like the M1 I'll definitely consider this.

Re: What are you using to clean, lube, grease your reels?
I'm pretty curious as well, but mainly as to what people use to clean and flush bearings. I've read people use lighter fluid, simple green, etc. Just wondering what's the best/safest to use for the bearings, so I don't ruin them.

Re: Braid/Fluro Leader Question
I would try anything between 30-40 pound braid with a 15-20 pound fluoro leader connected using an alberto or FG knot. I personally use the alberto/improved albright knot and never had any break offs at the connection knot, but the FG knot comes out thinner to help come through the guides a bit bett...

Boomerang or fiskars hasn't failed me yet, they even cut braid when it's limp.

Re: Braided lines for a Large Spinning Reel
You should be fine with 20-30 lb braid for the larger spinning reels. I've personally only fished with 15 pound braid on my spinning reels, but that's because they're only 2500 sized reels though on ML and M powered rods. If you're using a MH spinning rod, then I'd just opt for the 30 pound you've o...

Re: Basic Rod + Braid > High end rod + fluro
Since you're jig fishing, definitely choose braid since you're going to need to have your line tight majority of the time for bottom contact.
I would just opt for braid + high end rod

Re: Phenix Bass Recon Elite vs St. Croix Legend Elite
Today I had the chance to sneak out after work to get to the lake for some hours. I brought the following combos: * Daiwa Steez XT + Metanium MGL + 12 # Sunline Super FC Sniper Fluorocarbon Green * Okuma Scott Martin TCS Casting Rod 7'3" Heavy + Daiwa SV103XS + 50 # Sufix 832 Braided Line Lo-Vis Gr...

Re: Help me pick a big spinning reel.
IMO you should go to the store first to get a hold of the 4000 sized reel first. I've fished 4000 sized reels before and it's just personal preference for me, but it was just felt too big. The largest I'd probably go is a 3000 sized reel as they hold PLENTY of line for the type of fishing you're pla...

Re: How many wraps for Alberto knot
With heavier line I usually do 6-7 wraps up and down. When I'm tying thinner diameter line for finesse like for example 15 pound braid to 6-8 pound fluoro, 7-8 wraps. I've never had an issue with line breaking at the connection. My line usually breaks before the knot does if I set the drag too tight...

Re: Rods without a hook keeper
So far I haven't had issues with the fuji ez keeper on my rod. Even if the o ring does end up breaking on me, I ended up buying another one just in case.

Re: Spybaiting - who's been successful with it?
I've had a couple of short strikes on it, but haven't really committed to fishing it a lot. Anyone know what the sink/fall rate is on the spinbait 80? Say on 8 pound fluoro?
