Re: Weight reduction 101d7
Yeah that wont work then with the gears. Depends which brand handle, the Semper Fi appear to be the lightest but I dont own one. fishingandfords may know, he owns many. I have a few hedgehog carbon handles and haven't ever weighed them, its more an appearance thing, not really enough weigh loss alon...

Re: Weight reduction 101d7
If you can stand the difference in retrieve speed, you can change to aluminum Core 101 gears and key washer, that would shave close to 1/2oz. Handle swap and lighter grips,Finesse type spool would be another option to shed some weight but costly.

Yes 20lb flouro will work great. Been using 16 or 20lb flouro for most of my fishing with it and I love it. Have used 40lb braid to with no problems.

Re: Looking for a workhorse
Chronarch Ci4 is a good choice. Mine are holding up great so far to some very large fish. If the new Curado is built similar, and it seems very close, it should be a great workhorse reel as most Curados have been. Its pretty much a toss up between the 2, if you want a lighter reel, choose the Chrona...

Re: Upgrading Reels with Ceramic Hybrid Bearings
Give him the benefit of the doubt, sometimes it's a simple mixup as they do look the same. God knows I have done it with my own reel. cleaned the new bearings, take out the old bearings, put old bearings back in, put the reel back together and finalize realized the new bearings are still on the tab...

Re: Upgrading Reels with Ceramic Hybrid Bearings
I feel your pain, hope you can somehow recoup some of the cost. Doing the upgrade to Shimano reels is very simple and only takes a few minutes though. Learn this and you are good to go. All you have to do is take out the retainer in the palm side and the spring in the handle side and pull the bearin...

Re: KVD 1.5's and Traps (1/4) rod
I would look for a 7' to 7'2" rod, Mh/mf. I've been using a 7' H/mf and it works very good to but could use a little more flex in the tip for the smaller squarebills, that's why the Mh should be perfect. Heavy power works great for rippin traps though. There is not much vegetation at all in my loca...

Re: IS 73 trouble
Interested in replies to this as I have a STX and Premier gen 3 that do this all the time. No where near the quality of the IS but the same thing happens hope someone has some ideas.

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?
Yeah I did some serious ripping and cranking with this reel and it probably caused some wear. It is not bad but I want this reel to be super smooth. I ordered both pinion and main gear for $30. Should work well. I read the spool bearings on the Calais DC are dry bearings or greaseless bearings........

I must be one of the few that is not impressed by the Tatula. I guess I'm spoiled. I agree. Would rather see a new Steez or Zillion with the T-wing and maybe 3-d braking. Looks like it may be on the way. Zillion with T-Wing/3-D Braking? Did you read that somewhere or see prototype pics? Or am I mis...

Re: Favorite curado series? *poll*
I think when everything is considered the D series is the best series to date, although I like fishing the E series reels better (200 size). I've not encountered any durability issues with my E series reels but I just feel like the D series would be the most durable over a lifetimes worth of fishin...
