Re: Product Insight : Zillion TWS a.k.a. Tatula Z?

Ouch. Hopefully Daiwa can correct their mistake (IMO) with the Zillion sooner rather than later. What is their mistake that they can correct? Their isn't anything wrong with the reel. Is it a better reel than the OG Zillion? I would say the TWS equals or betters it in every department except palmin...

Product Insight : Zillion TWS a.k.a. Tatula Z? http://tackletour.com/images15/buttonzilliontwsvstatula.jpg Introduction: Though the Daiwa Zillion TWS scored well in our official review, something about the reel did not sit right with me - literally. After my very first cast with that reel, from the...

Re: The Search For One : Phenix's Maxim Series 7'3" MH

Interesting read. I think instead of searching for the One, you should have a Battle of the sub $125.00 rods. Omen vs Veritas vs Maxim vs Daiwa Lexa vs Daiwa TD-S vs Fury vs Duckett Ghost etc. Seems this are is growing rapidly and the quality is finally starting to show up. Don't forget the Cabelas...

Re: TT Shootout : Zillion TWS vs Chronarch CI4+

Suggestions for tweaks to future shootout categories: Have a max distance casting category where each reel is tweaked for maximum possible usable distance, even if it results in the occasional professional (non major) backlash. Also use the stress free casting category (basically what yours was in t...

LaPerla sounds awesome. I was going to book a fishing trip there until I saw how expensive it was

Re: Cal's review of the TWS Zillion confirmed what we feared

The Drag on the new Zillions is far superior to the OG Zillions as well. Probably better than the Zillion Type R too. Both smoother and more powerful. Honestly the ergonomics are the only thing the Zillion TWS doesn't have going for it when you search around and find them for under $220 NIB. The peo...

Re: Daiwa Re-Images Their Stalwart : Zillion TWS

The Zillion TWS is probably still a step up from the OG Zillion (US standard model) in every way except comfort and perhaps smoothness (though the Zillion TWS I had for a short while felt very similar to my other Zillions when reeling). It has more bearings, lighter weight, and possibly better casti...

Re: Daiwa Re-Images Their Stalwart : Zillion TWS

You were able to cast lures down to 1/4 oz with the Tatula and Tatula Type R, yet unable to with the Zillion? I thought the free floating spool and lighter spool weight would allow for this. Lighter weight overall, but does it have lighter spinning weight. The axle really doesn't count unless it is...

Now what are you going to do with it? I'm certain I could put it back together and make a nice Pike bait out of it.

Re: The Search for One : Shimano/Jackall's Biwako Versatile

Getting a 1 out of 5 in the rod sleeve department was a little weird. It came with a sleeve so it should have at least scored a 3 for having one. That was probably just a mistake. Like the mention of the guides have both SS and Titanium frames. Their scoring system has a few oddities for sure thoug...

Re: All Things Ugly and Wild : Shakespeare for 2015

If I were a poor teenager again I would be pretty excited about these. I'm glad they keep improving their blanks. I was interested in the GX2 series, but the 7' casting rod had an extra chunky grip and big foregrip, plus the blank the fatter and whippier than I expected. I was hoping for an improved...

Re: Don't be Fooled, Here's the Deal on Shimano's Exsence DC

Great review TT, been waiting to see this one. But given that it's basically a chronarch D + dc, it was pretty easy to figure it'd get high marks. :D I don't really care if it comes to the states or not, I just hope this isn't a 'one & done' reel. And as much as I prefer aluminum frame reels, I...

Re: The Best of Both Worlds – The Shimano/Jackall Poison Adr

Very nice rod. Wayyyy out of my price range, but I love the rear handle design. Might have been sweet if the rear handle was removable and different length and weight options could be purchased to tweak balance point and comfort for different personal preferences.
