STX
With all the centrifugal brakes off, its effectively a SX. Basically 2 reviews with 1 reel.

Re: First time on the boat!
It's surely not that cold, your lakes have open water
People are still ice fishing the lakes on the lakes around here, the only open water I have is at the dam's tailrace. Any high above 30ºF, I'm taking my boat out on the river, lol. Can't wait for the ice to melt.
Have fun and be safe!

Re: Shoes for fishing..zeko? crocs?
Take a look at Teva's. They make shoes for watersports like wakeskating. The Teva Fusion Ion uses waterproof material so it doesn't soak up water. It's not water proof as your feet will still get wet but there are drain holes to drain the water quickly, and since the shoes itself is water proof, it'...

Re: What do you all like to fish for during Winter?
Pike, walleye and perch.
Ice is still thick enough to drive a truck on the lake.
Saturday will be the 3rd day I've had a day off with the weather above freezing this year. Time to take the boat out on the river and try to catch some trout.

Re: Question for those using left handed reels
All lefty retrieve for me. I'm right handed, so I cast right handed, and I can control the rod much better with my right. Trying to walk a top water with my left hand is horrible, i simply dont have the coordination to do so. Whereas turning the handle with my left hand doesnt require much coordinat...

Re: Gen 3 STX brake problem
1 of my STX's did the same thing when I was fishing. I just used some tape to tape off the 2 that kept engaging.
When I got home, I took out the problem brakes and pushed the middle out so the side tabs would require more force to engage.
Haven't had a problem with it unintentionally engaging.

Re: Favorite BRAND lures
Can't go wrong with Rapala X-raps and clackin minnows in the clearance bin for around $5 a pop.
I like Spro swimbaits as well. Affordable way to build a swimbait collection.
