Re: ? for those who have/had both a Pixy & CH 50e
I have a number of each (reels), While I love the Pixy to death, my "grab and go" finesse reel is a CH50 (the old Chronarch) with Hedgehog Air's and an internal spool shaft polish. With internal brakes set to 1 or 2 (can't recall now), the reel is nearly impossible to backlash even with the lightest...

Re: Alphas Ito refinish?
I finally gave up on trying to keep mine looking good. Sent it off the Calfish for a Piano Black repaint. I think it turned out well and the external maintenance is virtually zero. I had Calfish shoot the clear side-plate with a couple coats of clear acrylic for protection and to help protect it. Al...

Re: Best Frog reel???
Dunno about the best, but if I were putting a frog combo together, I'd put a Shimano Exsence DC on mine. The reel is an absolute "bomber".

Re: MB Evoluzion Mephisto
*just realized, you're talking about the evoluzion. I have the original, which measures 6'9". This new version is 7'1" I believe, and unfortunately, not a slant bridge. Yes, the new ones are pretty amazing in hand (even w/o a SB). Very light and balanced (considering the power ratings and materials...

Re: Reel covers?
I've been using the Daiwa covers for years. Great protection and very heavy with full coverage protection of the handle. Expensive to buy that logo. I've also used the Phenix, similar to the Daiwa, lighter in weight material and fits most reels a quite a bit snugger. Not a bad choice, but for anythi...

Re: MB Evoluzion Mephisto
If I were buying an Evo, that would be the model I would choose. Not an "all around" but lots of potential for heavier applications including "Kermit".

GLX BCR 803 and 893 are "gold standard" rods for sure.

Re: Nightcrawler Secrets Rod
People here know a lot about rods, but my guess is that relatively few know what you mean. I suggest that you explain the nature of the rod you are seeking, keeping in mind that the Fishing Facts folks preferred a different rod for backtrolling crawlers than for casting them, though both were part ...

Re: Best All-around Pond Fishing Rod under $100
I think the 13 Fishing Omen Blacks would be hard to beat in that price range although it would be hard to find a rod in any price range that can cover 1/8 - 1 oz. it will work great for the majority of what you listed though. Hope this helps! 13Fishing Omen rods are my choice for a $100 rod. They a...
