Re: Daiwa Tatula HLC

Just received another JDM reel from Japan. Looking cool Tatula with tuned HLC spool and Magforce Z-LD (Long Distance) braking system. First Tatula I ever bought, decided to go with that model, spool itself cost 10000yen Going to see this weekend how that Hyper Long Cast works :) Reel weight (with sp...

Re: Daiwa spool bearing upgrade

Guys,

How to eliminate scratching the spool when I use Hedgehog tool (version 2 I believe)?

I put some duct tape around the spool, still leave those marks on both sides.

Re: Option to Orange SV Spools

I got stocked on mine.
Ordered some parts and those spools from Plat, and the earliest Plat can ship my order on Friday 31...
Because they order parts on Mondays, and ship orders on Fridays.

Re: The biggest B.S. ever

What is the point to use backing at all? Does the spool have to be completely full?
Daiwa has 35-70m 40-80m for 12/14lb line specs on SV spool.
They say for lighter lures don't fill up the spool.

Re: USDM Daiwa lineup

Take into account that most anglers not on this site have no clue what JDM is. SPREAD IT OUT! I show and tell my JDM reels, rods and tackle: 1. My bass club ~30 members. 2. Local fishing forums, when people open threads about what to order. 3. Show and tell people at the lake how it affordable to bu...

Guides stripping

Looking for someone who can strip some old guides from some old rods bought in early 2000 to improve some action. I can order new set of guides and send it together with rods. What is average market price for that job including wrap up news? Does it worth it since there are some many excellent rods ...

Re: Daiwa SV Spool Question

OK, the only reel there I tested distance was - Megabass FX68 with stock spool vs RCSB SV 1000 I could cast out all line I had (approximately 70 yards) with 3/4Oz plain jig head on SV spool, and I couldn't do it on Megabass FX68 custom spool, I would say about 10 yards left on that spool every time ...

Re: Correct grease for Shimano low pro baitcast reels.

Translate both links, This is what Shimano Japan recommends.
When I used star drag one time, the reel wasn't as smooth as it was before.

Re: Daiwa SV Spool Question

Let you cast further.
Let you cast lighter stuff.
Stress Free - less backlashes or overruns.

I would say those three factors I noticed on my reels with SV spool.

Re: Correct grease for Shimano low pro baitcast reels.

I wouldn't use star drag on any gears...
Check Shimano DG06, DG10 grease.
Shimano Japan website has a table with grease recommendations they suggest.

P.S. Love the ZPI Zero friction grease, use on all high end reels I own.

Re: Daiwa's Icast releases

Regarding the US Alphas retail price...keep in mind its close to the retail price of the JDM reel(japan tackle lists it at $263), but we all know reels are available at a discount and that is why we can get a JDM one for $200-210. I would bet we'll be able to get the US version for around $215 (20%...
