Re: Most refined t3???

Lets say a guy wants to smooth out and shut up a Balistic before it becomes a door stop. What parts should I be looking at geting? I had a Ballistic. I really liked it. I added bearings everywhere bearings can go. I also added a shim under the drive shaft as well to tighten it up. That reel was sup...

Re: Most refined t3???

For me, my T3 AIR was fantastic. I did mod it to accept an SV spool. I used it for T rigs and other light-is bass stuff. Super refined, connected and smooth. Too bad it was stolen among other possessions while I was in Orlando. I "replaced" it with a Steez SV TW 8.1.

Re: Ned Rig on Casting Gear

An Alphas SV or SV105 could do the trick and can be found within your price range. You could also put a shallow spool in a reel you own, given there is an option for it. Take a look at this thread: http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=67159&sid=3509c974d02418c342fd4937a865e3e9 A good optio...

Re: One reel to rule them all

For 1 reel for all of my fishing, it would have to be any fast reel with a shallow SV spool. I'd say my Steez SV TW 8.1. I'd do a T3 with an SV spool as well.

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper

That can be because of the Extra Fast tip being limber and jumps right into backbone without a good transition area and/or the angler was fighting the fish with the rod tip too high. Yeah there was zero transition, guy wasn't high sticking and not pointing the rod at the water either. It looked awf...

The JDM market has them in lefty.

Re: Need a frogging only reel...

I'd say a Zillion TWS, too, but I'd go with the 7.3. I feel like the 9.1 is great for flipping and pitching, but if you can't pull the fish out using the rod and are having to winch it out with the reel you'll burn those gears up, too. That goes for about any reel, but the 7.3 will outlast about an...

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper

What kind of action translates into a L bend under load? I was watching a guy fighting 1 - 3 lb fish, and his Croix Rage rod had the tip bent almost 90 degrees to the water, and almost no bend into the meat of the rod... Whatever action that is, I want to avoid at all costs. That can be because of ...

I could also go into why crankbait rods can get pretty expensive as well.

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper

An Extra Fast rod can have either a stiff or soft tip. It depends how the rod was made. I know the quality of the rod makes a huge difference. A high-end rod usually has a better taper to it versus a less expensive rod that may use simpler manufacturing techniques. That doesn't mean that only high-e...

Re: Need a frogging only reel...

I'd say the Zillion TWS. I'd use a 9.1 if you can find one. Really helps reduce the time when your frog is in that "dead water". Seems like a small amount but it adds up, especially if you pull a frog away from a fish too soon, you can hurry up and cast it back to the same spot for the follow up str...

Re: 2017: Favorite Technique to Catch Bass

I could only pick one but i enjoy the combat of pitching and punching the most. Reel drag buttoned down and into the thick stuff with heavy braid. Its a real work out and a battle of wills. Its also fun to clear the weeds off and find out what size of fish you caught. Where I live, you have to make...

Re: 17 conquest BFS?

Or maybe someone can take a pic of their schematics of the BFS.. http://fservice.shimano.co.jp/part/pdf/03676.pdf Thanks. It looks like I would need the gear set to make this happen....oh well All it is is a small hole in the gear, a little mushroom shaped pin, a spring and a drag washer that has a...
