Re: Which reels to keep?

Sell all but the Aldebaran. When you moved to the NRX you would disgrace the rod with anything other than a worthy reel!

Get 2 13 Metaniums, or a 16 Scorpion 70 at least, or a Steez or Megabass.

Welcome to the "Upper Tier!"

Or the Conquest 100HG.

Re: Shimano Metanium 13, 15, 16, DC?

You don't need a DC. I HAVE 2 13 Metaniums. One on a Loomis NRX 893 and will put the other on an incoming Kistler Z Bone LE for the same: pitching.
Buy all my reels from Japan. JAPAN LURE SHOP, Japan tackle, and DIGITAKA. Quick shipping , great prices and no issues.

Re: Great reels no one talks about?

The original BB1N and any of the Shimano B series. These are classics yet still perform at an amazing level...if you have any. There are still loyalists that covet these reels and for good reason. The original Lews BB1N was a superb reel. In fact I think I have 2 or 3 stored away in a closet for ye...

Re: What's your favorite Liberto PIXY (w/poll)

Have a Purple, Orange, and 2 Airy Reds. The purple on a Cumulus with purple highlights is fantastic. The Orange on a custom gold Lamiglass. But my fav are the 2 Airy Reds. Fantastic casters. One on a Super Trickster with red trimmings and the other on a Hedgehog. I like to bring just the 4 to fish t...

Re: What is your best drop shot lure?

Have been watching this tread with great interest since I don't reall drop shot. Waters here are kind of muddy Just today we opened the Bonnet Carre Spilway flood control to divert the Mississippi. Next week we open the Morganza Spillway to divert even more. Most waters around me will rise and muddy...

Re: Baitcaster for light lures

I'm a little late, but an Airy Red Pixilla is hard to beat. You can find one for a good deal these days, and do minor upgrades along the way. I spool all of mine with 7lb Sniper. I agree! I bought 2 from Japan dealer used and am simply amazed at their performance with light baits. I have one on a J...

Re: Help choosing a new reel for pitching/skipping

Tonite I ordered the Shimano Exsence DC from Digitaka for $250 shipped. Couldn't pass it up. Plan to pitch 1/4 and 1/2 oz Brauer Structure Bug ( supposed to skip well) and a Rage Craw or Rage Chunk. St Croix had a fantastic sale on their Legend Elite 6'6" a few weeks ago for about $250 shipped so I'...

Re: Anyone fish for gar?

Down in South Louisiana, we Cajuns EAT gar, and pretty much anything with eyes and a tail! GARFISH BOULET in gravy over rice is great!(only if you get a true Cajun gal to cook it. ) As a boy we used to make a sliding loop out of old piano wire and dangle a bluegill in the middle. Used a cut off broo...

Re: 13 Fishing Rods

Tonite I scored an Omen Black 2 M/H 7'3" for $74 shipped! I'll get to see how well it pitches jigs!! And if I'm not satisfied I'll simply use it for a FROG rod. Can't lose! I sold my Gen 1 Omen because although it was a very sensitive rod, the cork grip was simply too short for MY hand. Others appar...

Re: Aldebaran, Metanium or Core?

I'm liking the Aldebaran for finesse and jerkbaits and the Metanium for everything else. Me too! The Alde just seems so effortless for finesse. I liked the Metanium so much that I just ordered a second. It really DOES do everything well. Hard not to like it. I think my second one will go on my new ...

Re: Aldebaran

I have the new 15 Aldebaran and an older Curado 50E stock. While I like both of them I find the Alde easier and more effortless to cast than my Cu50E. Both are excellent casters and are a delight to fish. As for my opinion the Alde is more angular and has sharper edges while the Cu50E is like a well...

Re: New Calcutta Conquest

the new 100 size palms similar size but sits a tad higher so the old 50 palms little better. i love both the new and old but aesthetics the older CQ wins  I agree! I have the Shallow spool Conquest 50 and the new Conquest 100. The old model certainly certainly palms better. (And the 50S is...

Re: Looking to add another NRX

Get in touch with http://www.thehookuptackle.com They are cheaper and the service is better I got my 3 NRX rods there and I couldn't be happier. Stop with the shameless plugs. They have no place here. "Cheaper" and "better" comparatives are weak.... each to their own but I have no affiliation with ...

Re: crankin reel

I had a Curado E5 and E7 that were superb crankers! I gave them away to students of mine for Christmas. I may get another E5 since it was stress free to cast. I also think the TDZ reels are superb crankers. Easy to find s good used one. A Zillion Crazy Cranker is superb!! I think I like it best. In ...
