Delta 9-24
JIP and I went to the Delta on the 24th and couldn't have asked for better conditions. The weather was nice, and pretty much devoid of any wind. Not a whole lot of people on the water, and we spent a lot of time in and around Franks. Picked up a ton of fish on the rock walls, Hula Grubs and Kreature...

9/11 Oniel Report
Went fishing with JIP at Oniel yesterday, the water is low, and there were a lot of pleasure boats out. A couple anglers, including the crew from Fisherman's Warehouse. We got into the water around noon, and the Fisherman's guys had caught 30 fish around the weed lines. Started fishing with rippers ...

Re: California Delta 09.11.04
Thanks for the great report SD! JIP and I usually run out of Orwood, it puts you right into some great fishing. Though I have had some close run ins with some crazy boaters as well. Your going to love the new Yamamoto "Kreature," this bait has been phenomenal in that area, and can pull tons of bass ...

Re: Need suggestions for a Crankbait Reel
Z,
the Septon grip is Shimano's name for the ergonomic grip on their higher end reels. Compare the current Chronarch SF and Mg....the Septon grip is more ergonomic and soft to the touch. Also the rubber is better when wet.

Re: New Shimano reels, especially the Chronarchs...
Thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like a pretty good reaction so far to the new designs. The low profile baitcast category is definately heating up, with some of the good stuff from japan coming stateside. Gid, I'll see what we can do about getting some coverage up on the new Shimano rods. There a...

not for a while, been hitting Coyote. Had a good bite at Coyote 2 days ago, lots of fish, but nothing really big. South end was money.

Re: 8/8/04 Rockcod and Lingcod report (added new photo)
JR: thats exactly what it felt like...a bad hangover that just kept getting worse with each swell. Seasickness: Yeah we actually left earlier but stopped short of returning to get some pics we needed for some articles JIP is working on. So that took a little while. I can't tell you how good it felt ...

Re: 8/8/04 Rockcod and Lingcod report (photo's)
Sweet pot today Ken, I saw those fish in person and they were real nice! We had a tough day, mostly becuase I somehow forgot to take Dramamine this morning, was tossing my cookies all day. So we couldn't fish 100%. FInally ended up with 36 Rockies (four 4 people) and one Ling at 32 inches. Anyways, ...

Also possible to rip against the current and incite some strikes. I haven't done it but readers have told me that they hit like a freight train down there.

Re: Castaway review
Hi Gid, For the most part the Castaway is pretty secure. It is possible to steal the tip holder by unscrewing the two hand bolts but stealing rods is a lot more difficult. The hand bolts for the main box are also inside and locked. While it is possible for someone to jimmy rods out of the box, as lo...

It was good seein you ou there Ken,
Glad everything worked out, nice Halibut too! It was a good season opener, lots of nice cabs but didn't manage any 30" Lings this time out. Hope everything goes well with the motor.
