Re: Smoothest Baitcaster
The smoothest reel I've fished so far has been my Calcutta TE200GT. It'll crank in anything without any problem… 1oz. spinnerbaits, deep diving cranks like the deep-six and deep-x 300, and swimbaits (biggest I've tried has been the 8" BBZ-1). My Calcutta DC/Calais DC/Calais 200A are pretty smooth to...

Re: Opinions on a new DS rod
Definitely the NRX 822S DSR would be my choice even if used (with the budget of $350 you most likel will have to).
Incredible rod. Unbelievable sensitivity. I fished it with a CI4 1000FML and 10lb. Nanofil but I'll be trying it with a CI4+ 3000F and 6lb. fluoro this year

I'd go with the Okuma… out of the two you've mentioned.
The GUIDE SELECT series is awesome. I had a few of the Muskie ones and they were great.

Re: 2015 line ups
Those are some great lineups! My arsenal is ever-changing - usually growing - but I've been trying to cut down and have been selling off quite a bit. Anyway, here are mine… Spinning: G. Loomis NRX 822S DSR & Shimano Stradic CI4 1000FML G. Loomis NRX 842S SJR & Shimano Sustain 3000FG 2 x Shimano Str...

Fly Rods & Reels - SHOW and TELL
These are my fly setups for the time being! I haven't fished the Circa yet as I sold my Hardy Zenith 10' 5wt. to get a dedicated dry fly rod. I picked up the Vapen in the fall but didn't get the chance to use it yet either - it will be my streamer and small nymph setup for rivers and ponds. I love m...

Re: Cumara (red) Flip Rod
I forgot to add that I did stick it with the Core 50Mg7 and it was unbelievably unbalanced. I couldn't even use it because it felt so strange. I've tried pairing it with the Core 100, Chronarch 200E7, Curado I, Curado 200DHSV (which was much better but still felt weird because of its size and the si...

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
EVERGREEN Opus. That would be my choice as well... even though I've never seen one in person  I've used Pflueger, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, and Shimano. Loved my Daiwa Certate. Exceptionally smooth and incredible drag system. Now, I have a Sustain and a few Stradics... all great reels. No problems at...

Re: Does cost really matter?
I got a Pro 4X 10' 7wt. a few years ago for Christmas from my boss and I loved it. I only had it for a few months and lent it to my buddy (which he later bought from me) when I picked up the Sage ONE 10' 8wt. I could immediately tell the difference and even when we go out and I cast his I feel notic...

Re: Show your 2 piece rod
I think the majority of my rods now are 4 pieces… as I have more fly rods than conventional gear  My favourite 2-piece rod is my Rapala R Type 7'2" MH. Awesome rod with great feel. I have the Shimano Jackall Poison Adrena 7'6" XH which is a 2-piece as well but I haven't take it out yet to give ...
