Re: Fish Head custom lures Aruku shad

Thanks brother, much appreciated. I've been thinking about learning how to do some basic painting and airbrush work...looks like it could be a fun hobby. Definitely a fun and addicting hobby. Guarantee it won’t stay basic for long ;) You seem pretty creative so give it a try and see how it goes. So...

Re: Fish Head custom lures Aruku shad

Haven’t used them, but they do look very different from the real thing. Gill plate details are different and the internals aren’t even close. Close enough to call it a KO I guess, but not like the majority of his baits that are pretty much exact copies. That said, his baits are very high quality(com...

Re: Light Braid to Heavier Leader

Back when I used spinning reels inshore, it was very common to use 10lb braid to 40 or 50lb Fluoro leader when fishing outside grass edges. Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish will steal your lures every time with anything less. Mainly throwing small jerkbaits like the Xrap 08 or YoZuri 3D Minnow, and did...

Re: New NRX / GLX

Whether you go GLX or NRX stick with the 852c JWR. Once you go MBR you gain versatility and lose sensitivity. If you have the ability, I would go NRX+ just for the resale value allow even if sensitivity isn't your main concern. But the 852c is a top tier rod of the lineup for a reason... After pick...

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

Thanks Jeff! Do you have a source for bearings? I'll likely pack the drive/pinion bearings with aquashield (I have 2lbs of it lol) Ive bought a couple 10 packs off EBay from the R/C suppliers. They are smooth when packed with grease and have held up well. Can’t remember ever having to replace one, ...

Re: Zillion/Alphas SV TW Raspy after Saltwater Season

I simply pack frame bearings with Yamaha Blue Grease. A tube should last a lifetime. Between that and TSI, I haven’t had to replace any parts in years. Reels still get crusty after a while, but everything cleans up like new when serviced. Any stainless bearings should be fine for frame bearings, pac...

Updated pic of some FS-R paints. Caught the biggest bass I’ve caught on the river here on the one posted above, but these look a little better ;)

Re: Evergreen Flat Force Leaking

Usually going to come in around the hangers. Sometimes they twist just a little and cause that. Seams could be an issue on cheaper lures but don't see that being a problem with Evergreen. I seal all hook hangers on the lures I paint with Thin CA glue and haven't had any leaks reported. Pour some in ...

I'll have to find a local painter...for now I have a few Flat Force 4 inbound in shad/baitfish colors for this late summer/fall shad run.

Is it the "Atlas 1.5" circuit bill/square bill blank?
No the Evergreen blank is listed as the Flat Side.

Re: Evergreen Combat Crank FS R and Flat Side

Bump... Is Dinger baits still around? FishheadCustomLures carries the blanks Dinger used to sell. Best blanks in the business. Nothing cheap about these like the majority of blanks out there. Still love using this bait by the way. It’s extremely snag resistant and comes through wood better than a l...

Re: Fav small cranks for smokin and burning?!

Another bait I forgot to mention but have been using a lot lately is the Jackall Mushbob. Silent bait with magnetic transfer weight and a coffin style lip that dives 3-4’. Casts like a rocket and very accurate with that transfer weight in a small fat crank. MR version is even better, but let’s not t...

Re: Yak help... Questions

Very true, no need for that big case and you can make your own to fit the battery you need. I made one out of a waterproof ammo case. Added USB plug and 12v, as well as a few other accessories. Only need it for PowerPole battery so it’s easier to remove to charge. Looks like the Native has a nice ba...

Re: Fav small cranks for smokin and burning?!

Look into the Lucky Craft lineup. They have several baits that would work well. My favorites are BDS1, LC 0.5, 0.7, 1.0, SKT mini. BDS is a fat little squarebill that goes everywhere and deflects off everything. Dives to 3’ or so and burns nicely. Glad they brought these back! The LC series is all t...

Re: Yak help... Questions

I’d go with the Native for sure. One big advantage of the Native is the drive is simple and they have instructions/videos on how to take it apart and service/repair it. Not the fastest, but good quality. Also have upgrades to just about everything including the rudder. Really never hear anything abo...

Re: Any opinion?

I own the 15lb, and it’s very accurate. When we weigh 5 bass for tourneys our total is always within 1oz. Very easy to judge what the weight is, even when it’s between the lines. Not sure how IGFA does it for records though. They have been doing it for years and don’t seem to have any issues certif...
