Re: New crankbait rod
The 764CB RM is an incredible cranking stick. I was told it was designed for for throwing the Norman Deep Lil N. When I first got the rod, I bought one to try out to see how I liked it. After that first outing, I got home & ordered up another right away. :D I've been using it since last year, when i...

Champion 734C. The 734 is actually the rod that kicked my Cumara off the boat.Fat-G wrote:

Re: Legend Elite vs. Dobyns Extreme
What are you using your 744 for ? Fat-G, I primarily use the rod for t-rig from 3/16-1/2 plus plastic & jigs in the 3/8-1/2oz with plastic. I have & can use it for many other applications. Really depends on which rods are on the boat that day. Other applications include: open water frogging; super ...

Re: Dobyns DX705c vs Loomis BCR 855 GLX
I've owned BCR855 in the past. I didn't like it for lures less than 3/8oz plus plastic (t-rig). Just didn't load the rod and/or give me the feel I was looking for when pitching/casting. That being said, IMO, the 5 power Dobyns doesn't load well below 3/8oz plus plastic. Too bad TT lost all the threa...

Re: Which Dobyns Champion for...?
I don't fish open water that much if at all, mostly banks, around lily pads and reeds and docks, Bob, I'd say that 90% of my fishing is to heavy weed cover, wood & some occasional dock fishing. Open bank fishing only happens @ the foothill lakes when I fish in winter. Honestly, I don't feel any lac...

Re: What rods are still manufactured in the U.S.A?
Not all St Croix or Falcon rods are made in the USA anymore.
Pretty sure TFO rods are made overseas.

Re: Chronarch D7
Well, first this might be better suited to the reels forum 8-) Most guys will tell you the Chronarchs are great reels. They're in an odd price point in that you can spend about $50 more and get a Core. Interesting thing about the Core vs Chronarch, the Chronarch has more bearings. On the other hand...

Re: Legend Elite vs. Dobyns Extreme
I've owned the LTB & Elite version of that (7' MHF) rod. I've not owned the DX704 but do own a couple of DX744. The LTB Sweeper Spinnerbait is a very versatile rod. Unfortunately, IMO, it is pretty darn tip heavy. The Elite is definitely more sensitive, lighter in hand & slightly better balanced tha...

Re: Which Dobyns Champion for...?
I fish like an old man, hence the shorter versions. haha. Something that I've notice is the 'move' to longer rods has seems to have been embraced by the West Coast anglers more quickly. East of the Rockies, it is starting to happen. You might try moving to a 7' rod to see if the extra length works ...

civicrr : Feedback Request Topic
Since I've gone from 'Platinum' to 'Newbie' status, I would really like to get some feedback. While not active in the classifieds lately, I have sold/purchased multiple rods & reels in the past. I believe that I've earned a reputation as a member with honest descriptions & quick transactions as a se...

Re: Which Dobyns Champion for...?
Of the two, the 3 power Dobyns would be the rod to get for those weight lures. IMO, the 3 power rod will be best suited to the pull the blades will put on the rod. I think you'll also find it easier to really drive the hook home. Like zodiak, I throw 3/8 - 1/2 spinner/buzz on the 4 power (Champion 7...
