Re: About Rod Decals
I use the waterslide decals and have not added anything to the water and been quite happy with the results. They come off very easily for me; in fact I have had one fold over it came off so readily. Prior to soaking, I spray with Krylon Crystal Clear with UV/protectant to seal and protect the ink fr...

Those reels look amazing, but I particularly like the TD-Z. That colour combo is exactly what I was planning for my Sol. Looks great!

Re: RodDancer Lumiseal urethane
I have used it over rattle can paints on a rod, and it lifted the paint where it did not bond well to the blank. The second time, it worked much better due to mproved prep. My coating is not 100% even around the blank, which may or may not bother you. For around writing, I would go with rod finish o...

Re: Buying reels from e-bay stores
When you consider that many ebay sellers do not have the overhead costs associated with a storefront, and can , in fact, work from home in many cases, they have a larger profit margin, and can afford to sell at lower prices, and still turn a profit.

Re: pay more for rod, reel, or equal on both?
Since all of my most recent reel acquisitions have been used from this board and others, I tend to get reels for significantly less than MSRP (each below $150 including 2 Fuegos, a Zillion, and Sol). I have not purchased a rod used. However, in my current lineup, I have 1 rod below $100, 2 others in...

Re: Reel lube, what brand and why?
I tried using Cal's on my gears once. I found that Cal's is too sticky, and you could feel it while cranking. It was weird, there was just this extra resistance. I switched the grease on the gears immediately.

6.3:1 is what I prefer for SBs. It is versatile, and will not feel too strained when using larger blades.

Re: TSI 301 Lube for Bearings and Worm Gears
It does not look like the manufacturer of TSI 301 ships to Canada. Does anyone know if there is a supplier of TSI 301 in Canada?
Thanks!

Re: Abu Garcia tunning?
I used the braid trick. Create a big loop of braid. Bring 2 opposite ends of the loop under the cog wheel so that the shape of the braid is now a big U. Stick something like a long screwdriver between the loose loops of braid, and pull directly away from the sideplate. It should pop right off. You w...

Check to make sure your pawl cap is tight. Inspect your worm for damage. I believe those can lead to uneven line lay.

That's some pretty good work for the MacGuyver'd lathe. Are the boreholes still centered? I have had issues with uneven sanding when doing this in the past.

Re: First power outing of 2011.
Very nice outing, and definitely making me jealous. I should be making my first outing in a couple of weeks. However, because of our regulations, bass does not open until the last weekend of June. Still, it will be nice to get out on the water.
