Shimano Expride Thoughts??

What are your guys thoughts on the Exprides? I have been building my own rods but time is less prevalent now that I have a new baby so I’m looking at trying some more rods and haven’t ever used a Shimano rod before. So what are your thoughts on the Exprides? And what are your favorite models?

7.2 is the fastest ratio I know of for the alphas platform.
Thank you sir. I ended up getting my answer after doing some more research! Should've just kept reading I guess lol.

Re: Buying Reel On Ebay From Japan

I hope your experience with the purchase goes well. I have purchased rods and reels on eBay from Japan and directly from the Japanese websites and have not incurred any extra charges so far. One thing I would like to pass along is something I found out recently is that you should check the eBayer’s...

Buying Reel On Ebay From Japan

Do you guys know how much extra cost there is associated with buying a reel from Japan on Ebay besides the selling price? I'm interested in a couple of reels and all the domestic ones available are crazy high price wise.

Thanks Jacob

Converting SV 105SH to 8.1:1 Ratio

I've been seeing a lot of SV105's on ebay and was wondering if it was possible to convert it from 7.2:1 to an 8.1:1 ratio? Some of the prices on these are hard to pass up.

May that a MB 736 and SJ 736. Whoops.
Yeah I have a coat of epoxy on the MB736 and will have all three done this weekend. I have a MB664 HM om the way that I'm going to lengthen to 6'10" for a jerkbait rod.

Re: Uses for Copoly?

No issues with breakage. Be careful tying your knots and you will be ok. If you get a bad backlash, that could cause issues because heat caused by friction can create weak spots in the line. One you get used to casting with it, you shouldn't have any issues. The sensitivity depends on the line. Eas...

Re: Uses for Copoly?

I use copoly for topwater and squarebills. Braid for chatterbaits. For everything else, I use flouro. Any particular reason? I'm a big fan of fluorocarbon but its not the best choice for every application. For topwater poppers and walkers, I want a floating line with some stretch to help keep the f...

Re: Uses for Copoly?

I use both mono and braid for squarebills and lipless cranks. It depends on the situation-braid around wood cover, mono around rocks. If the drag is set correctly, braid works better for lipless baits imo, especially out in deeper water. Braid also helps when ripping a bait free from grass to draw ...

I use straight braid for most things myself, as well. But on sandy or rocky bottoms, braid doesn't hold up very well. In those instances, I like p-line cxx and sufix siege, at least 17# test, and most times 20#.
What do you use for lipless cranks and square bills?

Re: Uses for Copoly?

What setups are you guys using Copoly for? I've never used it for anything and I see a lot of you mentioning line like CXX. I use it for anything bottom contact, because I HATE flouro. Too many unexplained breakouts, even with lines like super hard upgrade and tatsu. So you would use Copoly for jig...

Re: Current Rod Builds

I rewrapped am original Kistler LTA pretty well exactly like that. Are you doing a simple spiral of something with a few more transition guides? The spiral I just completed on a RX7 flippin blank was in the ball park of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180. Probably a little over kill but I think the more ...
