Re: the reason I won't use a gloomis rod

I guess since we have had 2 members' megabass rods break, here recently, that now we should not ever use a megabass rod either? I'm sure your setyr rod is probably better than anything megabass makes too, right? I don't care who makes the rod kistler, megabass, g loomis, st croix, etc etc will all b...

Re: Megabass Kaede snapped in half!

I hope that it works out for you, but that is 2 rods broken in a couple of weeks time just for the members of this site. Kinda makes you wonder what else is going on with megabass these days. I just read a review of one of the megabass rods reviewed by tackle tour and it also broke in two pieces. Ne...

Gear ratio is what makes the most difference, not spool size. ;)

Re: Quantum's ads...

The Quantum burners are the fastest. The energy burner has a spool diameter of ~37mm which is the largest of the 7.x reels which should mean it is also the fastest. When spooled up to the beveled edge of the spool, I measured 31inches per turn. By comparison the Zillion has a ~36mm spool, Revo ~35m...

Re: rod for revo sx

Ok thanks, could one of yall explain how to set the revo sx this magnetic brake is screwing with me and i can't figure it out. btw the revo sx is about 3 times smoother than my record and c4. With you reel mounted on the rod and a lure tied on, engage the spool so that it turns freely. Turn the cas...

Re: Quantum's ads...

Quantum is bottom of the barrel junk. Their "burners" are only like 28" per turn. While the rest of the markets burners are all 30" + per turn. Makes about as much sense as their kayak rods with the extra long handles- I think we all got a good laugh at that!

Re: megabass future i hope not

Those rear grips look really "blah" for a megabass rod. You'd think that they would still use a nice looking split grip or something that looks better than those.

Re: All around rod

mostly cranks and moving baits, 1/8-1/2 If that's the case, then I think you'd be better off with the 842. You'd have a hard time getting the 783 to load properly to cast 1/8-1/4oz lures. The 783 is a pretty stiff rod, especially the GLX, and it is better suited for weighted plastics and spinnerbai...

Re: All around rod

What size baits? (weight)

For all purpose, I would go with the 783, but if you toss a lot of lighter stuff then the 842 works great on the lighter stuff!

Not impressed with Sunline- anyone else?

I just dont see what the hype is. Been fishing 14lb machinegun cast and 13lb defier for the past 3 trips and I am not all that happy with either one. I especially dont like the machinegun cast. It's just way too stiff and if it gets any kinks in it then it will break easily! I think the 13lb defier ...
