Re: Aaron Martens leaves Megabass

Wow those rods look awful. That grey model in particular looks like an abu veritas and dobyns fury had a baby! Lol...I honestly can't imagine aaron martens admitting that these rods are actually good. I think when nobody is watching he will likely reach into his rod locker and pull out some of his m...

Re: Drop shot rod recommendations

I have the XX shakeyhead for big water. The ML will fish lighter any of your current rigs. Talking to a few daiwa prostaff they using the M for big water. Nice, those MB XX rods are really good for the money. I have a few of the casting models and love them. How does the XX shakey head model compar...

Re: Drop shot rod recommendations

Yes big water, lake erie, st clair and simcoe (I'm in s.ontario). Likely 20-40ft of water, but using 15lb braided line, do you still think deep water hooksets would be an issue? I have an NRX 872S as well as 822S syr that both work good for the heavier drop shot weights. Was looking for something a ...

Drop shot rod recommendations

I am looking to get a new dropshot rod and would like to hear some thoughts and opinions on a couple rods I have been looking at. My main focus for the new rod is sensitivity. Cost is not a huge issue as I am looking for something high end in performance. The front runners are: 1). Daiwa steez AGS 7...

Re: NRX 872s?

I have used this rod for one full season and I absolutely love it! Amazing rod. I use it mostly for dragging tubes and small jigs, as well as weightless senkos and does these techniques incredibly well. In my opinion I find it has a really nice taper for the mentioned techniques. It has a slightly ...

Re: Need help on which Rod to buy. Dobyn's Dx, MegaBass or E

100% hands down no questions asked, get the XX EMTF. Amazing rod with unbeatable performance at its $300 price point. I have the EMTF as well as the dobyns DX 744C and I feel the EMTF is a better all around rod and outperforms the dobyns in both casting distance and with a fish on.

Re: NRX 843C MBR and 8lb. Flurocarbon

Yah, like everyone has said, 8lb is too light for this rod. On my NRX 843C, I don't go lower than 12lb flouro (line ratings on the rod state 12-16lb). I have also used 30lb braid with the rod which is also a great choice. You could probably get away with using 10lb fluoro or mono but I would stick ...

Re: Megabass X7 rods - need some help

I ended up getting the x7 Diablo for the same reason. I was looking for a chatterbait rod for fishing around mid to heavy cover. I was looking for something more stout than my NRX 843 and GLX MBR 843. The Diablo ended up being perfect - it has some serious power. I use it for big blade baits, jigs ...

Megabass X7 rods - need some help

I am wondering if anyone could help me out with some details on a couple Megabass destroyer X7 rods that I am considering: 1) F4-68X7 Cyclone advantage - I am looking to get a rod that will be good for Vision 110's, 110 Jr's, Giant dog-x, maybe some light plastics and smaller moving baits in the 1/4...
