Favorite. Mine is punching, even though I can catch more fish doing other things a lot of times.Fishing4Fun wrote:Favorite or most productive?

Re: 2017: Favorite Technique to Catch Bass
Of course Top water is my all time favorite way to catch 'em. This year I started deep diving cranks (yeah, I am late to the game). Previously I tried it a couple of times (on limited gear) and never got success or had fun with it. With new gear and some more understanding of the technique is start...

Re: How many fingers in front of trigger?
I use 3 in front, but don't think it would make much difference. You don't HAVE to work it tip dow. I normally work a topwater or jerkbait while wading and have no choice but to work it to the side or tip up. Jerkbaits also have a better side to side action when the rod is worked to the side. I usua...

Most rods, I put all my fingers in front of the trigger.

Re: Thoughts on Daiwa JDM Zillion TW 1516
I have the 9.1 JDM. I use it for punching. I have 100mm handlebar it and it has plenty of power. Smooth and durable. I've thrown A rigs and small swim baits with it. Not ideal with that ratio buy it worked. I am strongly considering the reel for frogging and flipping. I had chosen the Abu Garcia Re...

Re: Handle for SV105
The Tackle Trap is a great site if you want to upgrade handles. I upgraded my Alphas SV with a 90mm Zillion TWS handle. Looks very OEM and I feel the black on it matches the body better than the gunmetal colored stock handle. http://i.imgur.com/Bygw9Pp.jpg Did you upgrade that drag star too? I wann...

Re: Looking for a sub 250 USD reel for frogging and pitching
The Tatula SV TW is a great reel. They can be had for cheap on the auction site. I was frogging today with the 8.1. Handles fish well. Casts great too.
The Zillion TWS 9.1 would be a good option as well. I have used it for frogging but I use mine for punching.

Re: Is the Tatula SV TWS built on the CT frame?
The tatula SV is the only Daiwa i own at the moment. I have a love hate relationship with this reel because its the noisiest reel i own. When i spin the handle with no tension on it its just a noisy mess, but when you have tension on it like a lure retrieve its great. Its a casting machine with Hed...

Re: Daiwa PXL-R Need Replacement
So tacklewarehouse has the JDM SS SV 105XHL and the US Daiwa SV105. Aesthetically I like the JDM version more, other than that they look to be very similar with only a couple differences between the two. Are these essentially the same reels? Different reels. The SS SV is a Steez platform. It's a hy...

Re: Daiwa PXL-R Need Replacement
I own a PX type R, a yellow Pixy and the SV 105. I would say get the SV 105. It's great right out of the box & does an excellent job with the the type of lures you listed. If money is no object get a Steez LTD SV 105 That's awesome...I'm glad you mentioned that reel because I was actually looking a...

Re: Looking for good 2" pre-rigged swimbaits
I have Storm paddle tails often and I've found they run true. Every now and then you'll get one out of the box that needs a little tweaking but usually they seem to perform very well. They are also pretty cheap and the quality is very good for the price. Just my two cents... https://www.overstockba...

Re: Higher end BFSish reel: Scorpion 70 BFS, Aldebaran 50, SS SV105, or ??
Idk about the 6 gears. The faster gears is nice because the lures that are finesse have little resistance so power isn't needed.nikbrewer wrote:well, i ordered a SV105. i debated the gear ratios. REally wanted like a 6.3, but with the short handle, i went with the 7.2. Is there a 6.? gear set that will fit?

Re: Higher end BFSish reel: Scorpion 70 BFS, Aldebaran 50, SS SV105, or ??
So I am guessing the SS sv 105 is a jdm alpha based reel. Is it about the same size as a curado 70? There can be some confusion about Daiwa reels The number (105, 103) usually denotes the spool size. A 105 is shallower than a 103 (holds less line). The SS is a less expensive version of the Steez, w...
