Re: shimano 8 gear ratio
65lb that's crazy... Whats the diameter of that rope  I just couldn't fathom using anything over 40lb on a baitcaster. Not sure, but for certain presentations 50lb power pro snaps pretty easy. Mainly frogging in heavy vegetation and flipping in heavy vegetation. If there were largemouth bass a...

Re: Where are the shimanos?
With current names like fordvan and aldeblabaran, I hope shimano someday gets back to its rich histroy of names that actually sound and look good.

Re: shimano 8 gear ratio
It's funny, I have the met and the bantam and hardly use them. I just ordered the curado K in whatever the 8 ratio variant is. I like a "200" reel a little better due to the higher line capacity. I'm slinging 3/4 ounce lures on 65lb. braid, so a 100 or 150 size shimano spool might not be enough line...

Re: Mike Long
I like to see guys have successful websites when they put in the work (Tactical Bassin/Big Bass Dreams), but that market seems saturated at this point. I want to see someone with proven pro results that fishes the lakes that I fish also. I'm not watching Matt and Tim much since they made the move o...

This is actually isn’t “News”, it’s quite old. Jes’ sayin’ As far as him being a cheat your are 100% right and if you read my post I wasn't saying anything new. I was just wondering what happened "after the dust settled." I suppose living a life in seclusion of fishing now that the world ...

shimano 8 gear ratio
I've always been a believer in the older reels being better reels. I've got plenty of 7:1 ratio reels and slower, but if looking to buy a few 8:1 ratio shimano casting reels right now, what do I go with, curado k?

curado G
Are the drive and pinion gear still available for the curado G? 6.5:1 gear ration I believe.

Re: Cal's Grease and gears/bearings
Grease all spool bearings. Grease worm gear. Grease bottom of drive shaft where drive gear rests. Honestly I've greased spool bearing and if you're throwing a 1/2oz or larger bait I can still sling it. If you want maximum drag DO NOT grease the carbon drag washers. I've found cals drag grease to be ...

Re: Meet The "Small" Curado Family, And a Cousin
I have two CH50Mgs, two CH50Es, a CU100B. I've been thinking of getting the new CU70K with the highest gear ratio. I tend to use larger reels, CU200s mainly. I've thought about flea-baying the CH50MGs but not sure if I will. I really enjoyed the pictures. Someday I'll get my collection organized and...

Re: Life of brass gears in casting reels
I mainly bass fish and certain rods take a beating, namely my frog setup. Braided line and winching fish from cover. I mainly use the rod to fight fish, but there are times it's neccessary to lean back with the rod and crank hard on the handle at the same time, namely when in risk of the fish putti...

Re: felt washer life in spinning setups
In all my years of fishing I have never changed my felt washers. Do you have any reels 5 plus years old that receive heavy use? I agree that it's usually not necessary, but when I clean the drag stacks on some of my reels that get used extensively and have caught a lot of 10 pound walleye and 5 pou...
