Question on CH100D7

A good buddy just gave me one to replace the knobs on it for him. He bought on ebay, and I opened the reel up quickly to check the internals. The reel was really clean and in good shape, although the damper spring was missing, which I suspected because it seems to be gone on about half of these reel...

Re: Shimano reel names

I knew there were picky people on here, but wow. Won’t buy a reel because of the name??? Seriously? While I agree that Vanford is a weird name, definitely wouldn’t keep me from buying a reel. Even a name as bad as Tatulion I know, and I hate to be that guy! Usually I'm shaking my head while reading...

Shimano reel names

I don't know what happened, they used to be hands down the best in the industry. Chronarch, Curado, Calcutta, CORE, Stradic. Eventually we saw "aldebaran," and that is goofy as all get out. Not bad, but no one ever came up to me and said, "I got the new aldeblaberaana." Now we have the "Vanford". Ju...

Hit the very end of the pin with wet and dry around its outside as to give it some "key" for the glue to set against. It's quiet a small area and a challenge but I did it and hasn't moved since.
What exactly is wet and dry?

I love working on reels, but man, you are a step above. Nice work!

Re: VBS brake maintenance/issues encountered

I'm revisiting this post because the reel has acted up again. I did get a lot of good fishing time in before the ticking returned due to the vbs post coming loose. I looked at the plastic casing and sure enough there are cracks at the base of 2 of the posts. For those who have glued these before, wh...

Re: Curado noise on retrieve

The only reason I see to pre-service a new reel is if there are metal shavings on the gears that will cause them to "roughen up" quickly. Slaz is the one that brought this to my attention. I think when I initially saw Slaz post about this it was on a daiwa tear down of a new reel he did. I've got a...

stradic ci4+ revamp

Any guesses on when a model change is coming? I wouldn't mind finding some of the current ones on clearance soon. It's nice for me to have a similar batch when it comes to spinning reels due to spare spool swaps.

Re: DC reels, opinions, techniques

After owning a CUDC for a short while and trying to extract whatever I could from it for what I need for Bass here in Australia - it wasn't that much of an enrichment experience - I'll keep that short. That being said I'll hold off for the time being. My buddy has a CUDC, so next time out with him ...

P70 popper re-release

I'm just wondering if there's any plans to do a re-release on the old P70 Pop R? I have four of them from a re-release they did back around 08-09. At one point in time the tackle trap had some in, maybe two years ago? I only fish them once in a blue moon, but wouldn't mind buying a few for my lure c...

DC reels, opinions, techniques

I really don't need any more reels, but was wondering about feedback/reviews on either the curado dc or slx 150 DC. When using one of these reels, what is your favorite technique? What are the differences on these reels, mainly line capacity? I run mostly 200E7s and CH100D7s, and don't have any prob...

Re: Curado noise on retrieve

I can't stand how they over- grease reels at the factory. I break down and re-lube my reels to my liking before ever fishing them! The dumbest thing is greasing the bushings or bearings in the knobs! How people get so worked up over bearing supported knobs I will never know. I guarantee you that if...

Re: Best lipless crankbait in da business

Yo zuri and lock the thread. You don't need some weird evergreen or lvo150, or god knows what other enthusiast tackle someone on here bought. The rattl'n vibe 5/8oz. is the original and best. So many people on this site just grasp at straws buying rare, overpriced junk tackle.

Re: going price on CH50 Mg's

Mark, I am honestly not sure on the year of them, I bought them used from a friend of a friend for $100 a piece about 10 years ago. I never used them much at the time, they were pretty ragged out. The knobs were all sticky and one of them the anti-reverse wasn't working properly. When I got into ree...
