Re: Lews TP Bearing upgrade worth doing?
I tried them on the TP and saw very little if any difference from just flushing and using my preferred oil with the stock bearings, since all three bearings were the same, I put them in my Calcutta 200GTB and seen a big difference. But a year later I tried the Super Duty and BB1, I was going to keep...

Re: Your most versatile reel
easy choice, but a little tuff with only one rod!! http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/saumbi/_MG_5932-II_zpsabc8bc24.jpg But I would have to use the Lew's Team or Team Gold if I had to only have - "fun with one" Team is on LXC7MHM the Team Gold is on the LXC610MXF they do 95% of my work. I sol...

Re: Lew's B/C Reel Paddle Grips And Reel Grips...I Did It!
I personally love the Lew's padle grip's, but have a friend who has them on all 3 of his Lew's reels, He used liquid waterless hand Cleaner (Fast Orange) lightly to slip them on, said it was a breeze, and once on they stay put.

Re: $150-$200 cranking reel
Team Lew's Gold, and fill it with 30 lbs. test Sufix 832, 6.4-1 but smmmmoooootttthhhh and plenty of power, just put the left over change into some lure's. I just bought 2 more shipped to the door for $322.00 Thats only $158.00 for the 6.4 and $164.00 for the 7.1, a steel that's tough to beat. The B...

Nice Walleye to start the 2013 season
The spring Walleye run is on in the Maumee River off of Lake Erie. I have been in the fish really good for 2 weeks now every day. But this is a rare male, this was a 29" Jack, not out of the usual for a hen but seldom do you see Jacks this big, got about 3 to 4 more weeks of really hot fishing befor...

Re: Higher End Reel Suggestions Needed
my choice would be the 1000 Stella because money was no object for the spinner (on a LES63MXF St. Croix) and on the cranker the Calcutta 200DC (on a LXC72MHM St. Croix). For me being a cheap $%#&*(^ mine wear the CT200GTB and the other a ST1000FJ, but have thought like you of thinning the heard and ...

Re: Shimano Stella or Stradic ci4
CI4 all the way. I have owned both and I couldn't tell much of a difference. Particularly not for the money! I was just wondering which of the other Stradics you own?? the FH, MgFB, FI, FJ????? and what size is or was it?? And can assure you, if you had a Stella that you didn't buy used with issues...

Re: Stradic MgFB
CaptBob, where can a new FJ be found for $125? Did a quick search and found a used one for $119.95 + $8.95 shipping on fleabay rated 8. I doubt I would give it even a 7. I have read that the FJ series is the best for the money of all the Shimanos. Would have bought a new one at that price, but $179...

Re: Thinking about making the switch from Shimano to Abu
I agree with others, buy one first, don't make a blind decision on others opinions. I have seen many that were obviously made without any other comparisons, but state how this or that is great but it's all they owned????? I bought one Lew's speed spool over a year ago because of being unhappy with t...

Re: Stradic MgFB
I have a 2500mgf that sits on the rod rack Why don't you like it? The MgF was the early version of the magnesium frame Stradic, and was a little lighter, but used a paper thin skirt on the spool that was easily bent or damaged, and did not have near the upgrades that the MgFB has, and fewer than th...

Re: Trout reel recommendation
1000FJ Stradic, for a little less weight and a few bucks more the 1000FG Sustain, check them out I believe they were the tested here and earned the EDITORS CHOICE!! They are definitely my choice, but what do I know? Bob, no one is questioning what you know, however there are plenty of excellent pro...

Re: Stradic MgFB
They are very nice reels but as mentioned just Stradics with the MG body. I believe they are the best Stradics ever made next to the new FJ, it is an FH with Palidin Gears. Weight wise there no saving but have a beautiful finish. I sold one and both my FH's when the new FJ came out but kept 2 and wo...
