Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

How much difference is there between this reel and the zillion hd? They look alot alike. Is the morethan smaller? New morethan has the steez frame. It’s smaller than the HD and palms quite a bit differently. I’m fine with both platforms having fairly big hands but I’ve really become fond of the way...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Pretty much sums it up concerning what the pro's will say. I just cannot believe a smaller spool and ergonomics would justify an even MORE premium price. No way that reel is selling for $700 US. Unless I am in for a rude awakening and our economy is about to dump along with the value of the dollar....

Yeah; who am I kidding. It sticks with me. I fish better the day after; but it sticks at least until I have a great day to get my confidence back

Re: Lost fish therapy

Good stuff gents. I do versions of both suggestions. Try to learn as much as possible from it and put it in perspective relative to blessings in life. Just fishing...My wife knows something went south whe she asks how it go and I answer, well, I learned something... Still, I usually have to fight th...

Lost fish therapy

What do you do after whiffing? I don’t mean losing a one pounder after getting your PB on the same day or losing a nice one while fun fishing after you did everything right. I mean when you need that big bite and miraculously you get it and then just whiff. How do you get your head back in after tha...

Re: Megabass Valkyrie Rods

The 7’6” heavy just arrived. It really seem to make a long weeks work seem ok. My initial take on the stick is it’s beefy but not heavy. I just put a Steez Ltd on it with 20lb floro and a 3/8oz divine swim jig just to get a couple Cast out. When I unpacked the rod ( which was only half as hard due ...

Fellas; I’m trying to learn about and enjoy tackle here and am losing the message among the slapping. Unfortunately I didn’t get as much out of that tear down tutorial as someone who knows the reel guts well would. So it is made out of the bronze, right? That’s the conclusion? A yes/no, other will b...

"Adopting C6191, which has 1.6 times the strength of duralumin as a drive gear material, it has dramatically improved strength and durability by further increasing the diameter. Here, the shape of the tooth surface was fundamentally reviewed by computer analysis, and a process not allowing micro er...

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

The so-called hyper digi gear in morethan pe sv(8:1) is full brass. Mine was very rough out of the box, ended up replacing it with the gearset from zillion tw. I hope it won't be the case with the new morethan. The morethan also comes with metal star drag, that's where extra weight vs steez A may c...

Re: What’s your 2019 Rod to have?

What I like about that new Zephryos (or whatever the hell they call it) line up is that they are incorporating a very light glass composition into the Toray 1100G. Depending on the tonnage, that Toray is wicked crisp at 100%, but light, insanely sesitive and has a forgiving bend under heavy load. Th...

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

So, the Morethan's spool is the same as the Steez A? 120 yards of 14 pound mono?! Sorry, should have been more clear about that. I just meant that the Steez A can use any 1016 size. The Steez A spool looks to be a good bit deeper than the Morethan PE TW's spool. Hm, now I am confused  Will...

Thanks.
I’d say at least in the 100-130 m range based on what I’ve spooled with braid and a couple monos.

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

Good to hear that there is a special spool in new Morethan. As it actually should be and as it has been in older Morethans. Level wind speed is interesting case. Faster level wind than Steez (or sv tw Zillion) or not? My sv TW Zillion handles good any braided line. So I don't actually see need of f...
