Baitcasting with super flukes and other plastics?

I was wondering if it is advised to use lighter baits like the super flukes and other plastics which do not weigh as much with baitcasters. I have no problems throwing cranks and heavier baits with my baitcaster but if the lure lis light I get birds nest and my casting distance is terrible. Am I doi...

Re: Which loomis GLX for an all around use of Cranks and oth

I have both of these rods, my MBR783C is the GL3 and my MBR843C is the IMX. Both are great rods, but I think I prefer the 6' 6" length for all around fishing. I usually reserve the 843 for C-rigging and those times that I want to really through baits for distance. Lots of guys prefer the 7' rod, bu...

Re: Which loomis GLX for an all around use of Cranks and oth

OK, guys I just tested out my rod for the first time and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm going to hold on to the 783c. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Which loomis GLX for an all around use of Cranks and oth

Good points. I'm going to try out the 783 and see how it works out. If I'm pleased with it I will probably stay put. Have you guys noticed that the GLX rods seem to be a bit more stiffer than other models and companies? I had to move down from a 722 to 721 just to get the tip I wanted. Not a big dea...

Do you think it will be worth it to move from a 6'6 to a 7'?

Which loomis GLX for an all around use of Cranks and others?

Hello all, I recently purchased a loomis mbr783c to use with my shimano reel. I will mostly use this for spinners, crankbaits and jigs. After speaking with my friend he told me I should've gone with a 7' version of this rod. Do you guys think I should return this and look at 7' versions? he told me ...

Re: Question about braid...

The problem is the line twisting. But the main reason for this is the take-up on the bail. Look at your spinning reel, many have a smooth notch for the line to guide back onto the spool as you reel in. Many of the new spinning reels now have a bearing in the line guide take-up. My Pflueger Presiden...

Sweet. I can't wait to read all about it.
