Re: Jigs with Living Rubber

Living rubber has a little more action than silicone but it doesn't mean it makes it better. There are also a few different types of living rubber, there is the flat line rubber which looks like silicone, then you have the round rubber, and old school square rubber. I also have to add in the fact th...

Re: Putting the Pro in IMX, G.Loomis's new DSR822S

Just to let you guys know, you listed the rod in the review as a "light" power and Loomis has it as a mag medium power.

Re: Do Expride rods have a high rate of breakage?

You may not like what I say but I've heard this right from the mouth of a rod designer years ago. He told me that boat flipping fish is wrong, if you break a rod boat flipping a fish it is your fault as the rod isn't designed to be stressed like that. Just like high sticking, boat flipping puts extr...

Re: Why no love for the E6X?

I have a 783c and it's an OK rod but I find it lacking in sensitivity. I use it mostly for spinnerbaits. You're paying for the G Loomis name and warranty for these rods in my opinion and this rod would be better suited with a 100 dollar price tag. I agree with the above statement, if they were $100...

Re: Favorite finesse jig trailers

It depends on what type of finesse jig. If you are talking about Eakins style finesse jigs then I'd go with the Zoom Super Chunk Jr. and the Netbait Paca Chunk. For the small finesse jigs in the micro category I like the Venom Ron Yurko Finesse chunk, the Zoom Tiny Chunk, and for the slightly larger...

Re: Favorite Mid-Range Crankbait (8-12 feet)

I'm old school when it comes to mid depth cranks. I do well with a Bomber 7A, and the Fat Free Shad in the #5 and #6 sizes. I also like the Rapala DT-10 and the Bagley Diving B2. I know these aren't flashy lures but they flat out catch fish and it amazes me why more don't use some of the old school ...

So over 100 views and only one reply? Wow. Doesn't anyone have anything bad to say about this reel, other than the price for an extra spool is way too much. I went ahead and used this little pearl white reel and so far I like it. Very smooth and quiet. Anti-reverse works good, bail opens and closes...

Re: Evergreen Brett Hite Combat Sticks

I think I'm done reading reviews on here. My wife got some money on a scratch off and let me have a guilty pleasure, so I ordered the Evergreen JackHammer 7'3" Glass rod. I have a Hammer Rod in a 6'9" H and I should have just got a longer model but I was really intrigued by the review it got here al...

Re: Favorite spook style bait?

Hi Smalljaw and down4ttown, Are there any favorite colors for the Yo-Zuri 3DB Pencil? Do you think the 7/16 will perform as well? Thanks The Pencil is 4" and is 5/8oz, 7/16oz is the 3DB prop which is also a really good topwater bait. For the pencil I have several colors but the best ones have been ...

Re: If you could have only one crankbait...

Rapala DT-6 without a doubt. There are three reasons, the first is that no matter the time of year there are always spots in that depth zone that hold fish. The second reason is that it is just as effective in colder water as it is in warmer water, it has a tight action that is somewhere in between ...

Re: Megabass Vision 110 vs Lucky Craft Pointer

I prefer the Pointer 100, it is a better bait than the 110. The 78 is my numbers bait, it will get bit even when it isn't the best bait to be throwing. The 110 is a good bait but it isn't magic like the hype it gets, there are days when you can't beat the 110 but not often, the Pointer normally prod...

Re: Equipment Related Pet Peeves

It's a peeve but I can live with, although I don't understand the reasons behind the practice. People who have $50,000 bass boats and a $50,000 tow vehicle adding up to $100,000, and who use $50 rods and $50-75 reels, and similarly low price level gear, like a $2 crankbait from the Bass Pro discoun...

Re: St. Croix Avid X v's G. Loomis E6X

I haven't used the casting rods but I fished with both in spinning models and went with the Avid X. I fished with the E6X 7' M-F and the 7' ML-F, both are rated the same but weight, balance, and sensitivity have a world of difference. I was looking for a hair jig rod and my buddy had both of these, ...

Re: Looking for a budget Cranking Rod for deep diving cranks

There are a ton of rods that fit your needs but I'll throw two out there that I've used and thought were really good for the price point. The first is the Fenwick Lunker Stick, this is a glass rod so it has some weight to it but the action is nice as is the balance. There is a 7'8" MH and an 8' MH, ...
