Winter Jig Love ?

First day of winter in less than a week (can you believe it ?) ... To many , Winter means dragging a jig to entice a better quality of bass to bite . What is your favorite jig / trailer combo ? For me : Bass Patrol Brown / Green Pumpkin 3/8th oz and 1/2 oz. football jig in living rubber and silicon ...

Re: Winter Time T-Rig Favorites ?

I should have added a Carolina Rig with a T-Rigged soft plastic qualifies as well ...Small worm , ring fry or french fry with little action would seem to fit the bill .

Who likes dragging a slow moving worm , creature bait , tube or fluke ? Let's here from you - what are you throwing ...

Re: Best or your favorite line for jerk/rip baits?

Read where G-Man and Ike just recently switched back to mono from fluorocarbon saying suspend jerk baits do better on mono because they suspend horizontally instead of nose down on fluoro ...They get more bites . Sufix Elite 10 lb. should be on your short list of readily available mono lines to try.

Re: Favorite Mono & Size For Top Water Baits ?

JD & Norman : Good detail on using braid - curious if you have tried braid for topwater in the 20lb. ~ 40lb. range or if there is some attribute to using a heavier weight braid in the 50lb ~ 65lb. range for these applications ?

Re: Favorite Mono & Size For Top Water Baits ?

smalljaw : That makes sense ...16 lb. mono for poppers and 12 lb. for walk-the-dog type baits . Research indicates you see heavier lb. test for poppers and a size or two lower with walk-the-dog baits . jdlaman : What I can't get my head around braid for walk-the-dog type baits is the part of the ret...

Favorite Mono & Size For Top Water Baits ?

I am interested to know which brand mono line AND size you use for the two specific topwater techniques below : 1 . Chuggers & Poppers : Many Pros suggest weekend anglers do not use heavy enough mono for this category - a heavier 15lb. to 20lb. mono will float higher so thus better for poppers & chu...

Re: Favorite Baitcast Reel Line For Backing ?

Per tip from Todmc : I checked out the Zebco Mono line from WM and I now also believe this line is lighter and softer than other mono lines for backing . I picked up a spool of 12lb Zebco Mono for less than $3.00 that should last a looong time ! For what it's worth - I believe about 60 yards or so o...

Re: BPS Pro Qualifier OR New Daiwa Exceler 100 Series ?

Thanks for the replies so far - yes a PQ for $69.00 ~ $79.00 on Black Friday would be hard to pass up ...Then it would be a move up possibly to a Lew's Tournament MG on sale Black Friday for around $105 or so . I believe the Lew's however only has a magnetic brake where as the PG has both types of b...

Purpose of backing is more than just covering the spndle ... I say fill with backing 70% and your good top line 30% .

Besides weight reduction of the Type R - anything else really significant (which you can definately note) as an upgrade over the standard Tatula ?
