Re: Pflueger anti-reverse problems in the cold....

I just had this very problem with my Pflueger Patriarch spinning reel yesterday, thankfully, the ensuing tangle from a hookset did not catch anything other than the spool and the fish was large enough to pull it all out from drag. Boondock had asked me if I had any problems with it when he posted th...

Re: Mattman or other OG builders help.......

I had one of my personal MHX rods I sold come back for a re-guide with better guides than I used in the first place. That MHX blank cleaned up perfectly. I could not tell where the old guides were at. U used a touch of heat with the white scotch bright pad...beautiful cleanup.

Re: strip and rebuild nrx

The NRX fly rods craftmanship isn't much better, and those suckers go for $700. And there is a tiny two letter decal in the label, I would guess the builders initials. I don't know why they don't QC the rods better.

Re: New Phenix done!

Congrats. Now go out and fish it and tell it like it is afterwards. I KNOW what you will say. You'll know that I'll say what.....that it's better than a GLX(no real life data to compare to), or better than the ultra MBX(I have handled a few)......then yes, you can feel everything, simply amazing......

Re: New Phenix done!

Very nice! Does the power really measure out to a "MH"? Ya know, I don't have the experience of other builders, and I don't use the rda....much less know how it works, I am familiar with CCS though, but I did not measure it. I have a 6'6" MB783-mhx, and a batson ISB843, and the phenix tip felt heav...

Re: New Phenix done!

is that custom or stock phenix rod? 7 foot 6 and 3 oz, dang thats light. A custom, Phenix is not coming out with a factory T46 until next year. 3.0 oz is light, but I did not build it light, I added 1.5oz of components to it. I built a UMBX 700mh for Boondock, it started at 2.0oz and I added 0.84oz...

Re: Two new rods

if you want to add stability to a TN handle - and have a lathe - try inserting a couple poker chips in the handle. The reel will press against those and the cork will not be compressed due to the poker chips taking the stress. When I upgrade to a lathe, from the caveman c-clamp and drill setup, thi...

Re: Phenix T-46 available yet??

What do you do with a 7'6" blank that's half built. Haha, the dilemma you and I both face. I dunno that I have a dilema. I got the 7'6" MH, and when I flex it against the carpet, it feels heavier than the isb843 I have, 7' MH, and certainly feel heavier than the MB782 MHX.......I'm not sure I have ...

Re: clicking noise in my Rod

take the reel off the rod, put masking tape over every eye, folded over so the tape shuts the eye's hole. This will be just to make sure that guide insert isn't moving on any guide. if the rattle goes away, remove the tape one by one with a swing or two in between to see if it goes away. if the ratt...
