Re: Spinning reel.

Second on this. Love my Plueger Supreme. Get a Pflueger Supreme and spend the 150 bucks you saved on baits :big grin: If you're voting for the Supreme, you've likely not used the new Sustain. It's an entirely different class of reels. I will never own a Shimano reel again. They are the reason I wen...

Re: Can anyone compare Omen to Croix Premier or better

I just took delivery of a 6' 10" Omen Black ML spinning rod. Based strictly on feel and close inspection (have not fished it yet) , it is a winner. Overall build quality, fit and finish is extremely nice, especially on a $100 rod. Of course the real test is catching fish on it, I hope to have it on ...

Re: budget UL rod suggestions

I haven't handled the SL, can't help you there, but I have several 5 lb + LMB on my 6' 8" UL Elite Tech and it has more than enough backbone to handle a larger fish. I never caught a peacock, but I don't see it being a problem.

Re: Falcon Bucoo 5" UL

Bucoo's generally get positive reviews, although I haven't seen any feedback on the UL model. Throwing a 1/64 oz anything is a tall order for any rod. I have to wonder if a 5' rod would be too short for that, unless you were fishing narrow creeks where distance isn't an issue. Seems to me like you'r...

Re: Let's talk "tubes"

Here is one many swear by, but for some unknown reason I haven't tried it yet. It's known as the "Stupid Tube". Similar to the second one I posted with the internal weight, but this one is probably better for open water because the jig eye is offset and it will spiral and behave erratically on the f...

Re: Let's talk "tubes"

As for favorite tubes, the one in the earplug post is from Poor Boy Baits. Under $7.00 for 20 through TW, nice colors and they get bit around here. The color on the one in the pic is Watermelon Rose The ribbed tube in my second post came from Alluring Baits out of Texas. Nice thick walls and head, s...

Re: Let's talk "tubes"

Hang the weight on the 'Z' bend of the hook. Then carefully pull the hook as shown to draw the weight into the tube, being careful to not slip the hook out of the weight eye. tube with internal weight 4.jpg Finish rigging. Here's what it should look like. The weight is free to swing on the 'Z' bend ...

Re: Let's talk "tubes"

Here's one more. Picture heavy, will probably have to do it in two posts ... Tube, appropiate sized EWG hook and a dropshot weight. Notice the eye on the weight has been opened up by using an awl. The weight can be trimmed with dykes if you want a lighter weight. This particular tube has a thicker h...

Re: Rethinking my Shimano Faith

Thank you for your eloquence...now, if I can just get most of these kids to listen to some worthy music for a change! That's the thing - it's the kid's world now, they aren't interested in our music, and they have a different set of priorities. We were no different, it's the ongoing evolution of th...

Man, tubes rock. Your imagination is the only limit. Here's one for you, it's a killer at times ... Re: Rethinking my Shimano Faith

Step back and look at the larger picture. While you all make valid points, consider that (and I'm working on perception and good ol' guesswork) that the vast majority of fishermen out there never even open their reels, much less pay any attention whatsoever to how they're made and what they're made ...
