Re: What's your "Wind Limit"?

I prefer a breeze that puts a slight occasional chop on the water as it suits my preferred power fishing/moving bait style. I detest dead calm conditions most of the time. One time we got driven off the lake by howling winds in the 25mph + category. We loaded the kayaks in the trucks and just for $h...

No weld aluminum canoe/kayak cart

Early last year I had built a cart for my canoe out of PVC pipe based on ideas I got online. It was functional and did the job but ultimately it had durability issues and broke beyond repair several weeks back. I started researching pre made carts online that ranged from $50 to well over $200 but I ...

Great find! What will you pair up with it?
Nothing fancy … have a 7.3:1 Revo X ready to go. It will get spooled with Sufix Performance braid.

I have the whole loading/unloading process down to a science at this point. In had built a wheele...

Re: Canoe vs Kayak

Welcome to the forum.

I made the transition from kayak to canoe back in 2019, here's the thread ... http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?t=82390

Have not regretted it at all, for me the comfort & "fishability" factors trump virtually any kayak. Good luck with yours, tight lines !

Re: Good Tackle Thread (overlooked products)

Man, there are literally thousands of baits that qualify for this category … one that comes to mind for me are the Booyah XCS squarebills (the resuscitated old XCalibur XCS series) … no mind blowing paint schemes or JDM mystique but simply a well made bait that consistently gets bit. I had a TON of...

Fenwick HMG full cork with Fuji guides & Sea Guide Alien reel seat for under $60 … looks to be the discontinued previous incarnation that still had the cork foregrip, the current models are twice the $$$ and don’t have the cork foregrip or Fuji guides anymore. Got it from FFO (Pure Fishing’s outlet ...

Re: Let's Talk Trebles

I also really like those Excalibur rotating trebles back in the days. Oh yeah, they were one of the good ones. Thankfully I have a decent stash that should last me a good bit. Most any treble hook can be manipulated into that shape with a pair of smooth jaw flat nose duckbill pliers. Serrated jaw p...

Re: Censorship

I know the site in question. I called out one of the mods for trying to sell a rig of his, used mind you, for far more than one could purchase the exact same rig brand new. My post was promptly deleted and he PMed me some nasty stuff and issued a warning for breaking the rules. Whichever rule I bro...

Re: Censorship

I left that site years ago. I understand the balance a site owner has to maintain … keeping sponsors happy as the site wouldn’t be possible without them but allowing members to mention competitors as long as it’s kept in context and relevant to the discussion. They were so ridiculously one sided the...

Re: Small hairjigs for largemouth

They will catch all species of fish - LM bass, crappie, perch, pickerel etc. I tie my own from black craft hair and whatever ball jigs I have on hand, usually olive green or black. They’re crude, asymmetrical and look like they were made by Stevie Wonder wearing oven mitts. The fish don’t seem to mi...

Re: What's Big to You? Talking about the Size of Bass

Big is relative to your location. A big LMB here in South Jersey is IMO 3-5 lbs. The state record is 10 lb 14 oz. I don't think it's a stretch to say that regardless of where you're fishing, very few anglers would complain about catching a 3 - 5 lb fish. I'm old and grumpy. I find the vast majority ...
