Re: Smoke 101 for Finesse Fishing

The Smoke is a great reel and I love mine but I wouldn't recommend it for finesse with the weights you want to throw. About the lightest I can throw with mine is 7grams, and that is with a very light 2-6lb 5'10" rod. Going up to quarter ounce will help. Pardon me mixing up the US and metrics.

St.Croix Triumph

I took my new St. Croix Triumph out fishing for a few days about 200km west of where I live in NSW Australia. The target fish was Murray Cod and I had spooled the Quantum Smoke with 20lb Suffix 832 and a 40lb FC leader. At one point I got hit by a Cod about 70cm (they grow to over a metre) and it pu...

Tatula release

Being an Aussie and viewing all the nice gear and good prices you get in the US I was a little surprised and pleased to hear from Daiwa Australia that the new Tatula will be released simultaneously (at the same time) world wide. We usually get our new stuff a few months behind everyone else. For a n...

That's a nice reel, don't ruin it. Either do the push ups or sell it.

Really pleased I am that this debate?? has settled down. I don't accept that this entire website is purely for enthusiasts, there's a separate section for those maniacs. What it's all about is amicable discussing the gear we love to use and expressing opinions. Turning it into a mudslinging contest...

Re: D@!M IT!!! Now I have to buy a Tatula!

Strikes me as being kind of a weird name though, sort of a cross between a spider and ballet skirt. (not that I know much about ballet skirts) :big grin: Seriously sounds like a great reel for the money, not worried about the weight.

Re: BPS reviews

It's the old story; bad news travels faster than good. Fishing is not a time clock thing, you do it because you love it and the fish don't co-operate, well you've had some great casting practice. It's my experience that people who trash a product on a forum have either bought the wrong thing or just...

Re: Greater addiction - Rods or reels?

Is this stand up comedy or sit down comedy. In fact is it comedy at all or merely confessions of a bunch of anti social, rod and reel loving lure polishers???

BPS reviews

I'm a little curious about all those reviews you see on the Bass Pro Shops website about the various products they sell. Does anyone on this forum do it or are we all too cool for that. Bearing in mind that these reviews are written (I assume) by folks who are totally unbiased, would anyone buy a pr...

Toku I don't see the problem there... I would say that is a mighty nice collection! Very true, I identify a few of my own in that bunch, but mine are rights. I dropped my purple (mauve if you're a girl) Alphas in 10m of water once. We dragged the river for it all afternoon and got it back. It...

Can't argue with that. I take a couple my veteran mates out fishing a fair bit, the boat hear's some great stories, but they all come back happy. Who needs a shrink when you got fishing.
