Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
Does anybody know where I can get a carbon fiber foregrip/nut combo that fits an ECS reel seat? I see a few in these pictures. I'm talking about the same one that Dobyn's uses on their Champion Extreme baitcasting rods, just without the custom paint.

Re: Silent Killer 175 Largemount color.
Bass eat bass, no matter the size. I saw a study about a decade ago done on the Great Lakes that said as much as 15% of a largemouth's diet is bass. Those bass don't get much over 6lbs. either. I've seen a lot of fryguard fish munch on fry. I've also seen small bass jumping as giants chase them on s...

Re: Phenix at ICast
I want to hear what the builders think about the new sanded K2 blanks before I have one built. Hopefully they meet expectations. I've built one unsanded (682 spinning) and two sanded (683 spinning, 684 casting) for myself. I think they are incredibly sensitive and feather light. Their fast taper se...

Re: jigs or creatures/plastics in summer
But, I usually have a jig tied on all summer anyway because I love to play with almost anything in a skirt!  I've been flipping a black/blue jig into open pockets in grass this summer with success. I've also picked up some punching jigs and have been pairing them with RI beavers, have ...

Re: jigs or creatures/plastics in summer
Green pumpkin jigs around the bluegill beds in early summer are a no brainer. I don't fish either one very much as summer moves on in our deep Socal reservoirs because the fish are often deeper chasing bait. But, I usually have a jig tied on all summer anyway because I love to play with almost anyth...

Re: Phenix at ICast
Phenix loves to be different with their handles. Like people have said, it is better to build a rod with a blank that is that expensive and get exactly what you want. I want to hear what the builders think about the new sanded K2 blanks before I have one built. Hopefully they meet expectations.

Re: All the chatter on chatter baits
I keep hearing about all these Chatterbaits "breaking" but funny thing is, I've never seen a pic of a broken Chatterbait. (unlike when Megabass lips were breaking). I've been throwing Chatterbaits for years, and I've only broken one blade off (after 50 or so fish). I can live with that. The ...

Re: Reel Frame Measurements Cross Posted From BBC
The only thing that matters is how it feels to you on the rod that you are using. It is a subjective thing because people have different size hands and hold the reel differently. The fit is more important than size for most people.

Re: Daiwa Cielo
You have to be patient because things don't happen overnight in the big business world. I had to wait five months for a warrantied Dobyns rod when he shifted production from China to South Korea. Did Daiwa tell you what they would be sending you for a replacement? I for one would find a five month ...

Re: Help with approx. length/girth of fish
Congratulations. It's real easy to get a length with the rod and then estimate the girth. You know when a fish is skinny or fat. I have caught enough of those 6-9lb. fish over the years when I didn't have a scale that I have memorized the conversion chart. I don't usually take the time to weigh a fi...

Re: Best retrieve for Mattlures U2 Gill and Hudd Grass Minno
Slow rolling just over the grass gets the most bites most of the time. The U2 Gill with the flat tail is for bed fishing and fishing like a jig in the grass. The boot tail U2 Gill is a better bait to slow roll because the tail will swim better. Don't fish the bluegill baits like the U2 and the Rago ...

Re: Best Time for Night Fishing
One thing I have always heard is to wait at least an hour after the sun totally sets to allow the fish vision to adjust to the darkness the same way human eyes need to adjust. Don't know how true this is but I have noticed a difference. I dont know the reasoning, but this seems to apply to my water...

No, I have not made it yet. Have been under the weather and not fished at all the last two weeks. Those Golden Years striking again.
