Re: Barbless Fly Fishing For Bass Ain't Easy
Good stuff! Kayaks are sort of bad fishing platforms. At least when there is cover involved. I've lost a few big fish off around rocks and jetties just because, you can't control the fish. You position the kayak, have heavy line and buttoned down drag, hook a fish, start winding as fast as possible,...

Re: Daiwa's "New Species"
I'm pretty sure I'm buying one or two of these. The gearing and drag will be awesome. I just hope it holds up to some saltwater usage.

Re: Help me out with line capacity: lbs test & diameter
I find the reel, or the JDM equivalent of the reel, and look it up on japantackle.com. Most of the reels he has up there are accompanied by their line capacity in MM Instead of just the random pound test. So once I figure that out, I go to tacklewarehouse, where all their lines have diameters listed...
Re: FROGS
Any advice for someone who can't ever get a frog to walk? I've tried many of the common brands, tried trimming skirts, spectra and mono, etc. I've tried pretty much everything except buying a dedicated frog rod. Great info above =D> Give the Swamp Donkey a shot, one of the best out there http://tackl...

Re: Only TT would understand.....
I have a feeling Shimano would get a lot of business from our forum members if they would rerelease these... It's a very well thought out design. I have no idea why they got discontinued. I remember selling a few to a friend when I worked at a tackle shop. I never got around to buying any back then...

What would you say is your favorite swimsuit? And what kind of fish do you catch on them?cjtoad wrote:Heavy swimsuits, anything over 6oz will trash a reel right quick. That's why big round reels are the norm with the big stuff.

Re: BRAID, MONO or FLOURO - all around line??
I love fluoro and use it all the time but it can't be an all around line since topwaters need a floating line like braid or mono. So since I like fishing fluoro so much, my all around line is braid. That way, I can use a mono leader when fishing topwaters and a fluoro leader for everything else.

Re: Daiwa's "New Species"
These are coming around a time when I will have to replace my beater reels. I've gone through four or five Citicas in about 3 years. Usually I go to Shimano for the low end stuff but I was so disappointed by their current lineup, I haven't bought anything from them since. I can't wait to see ...

Re: St Croix. ..umm, yeah..
I always loved the way both the brown and green Legend Elites looks. They're great quality blanks too. I just don't understand why they need to make their rods so powerful and top heavy. My first expensive rod was the Sweeper Spinnerbait Legend Tournament Bass Rod. At 7' MH F, it should have been a ...

Re: Any UL favourite lures for River Smallies?
If you're okay with buying from Japan, you can get literally any type of bait in UL form (just have to look at the right places). You have topwaters (walking, popping and propped), jerkbaits, cranks (shallow to deep and lipless too), spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, small worms and creature baits, small ...

Japanese Fishing DVDs?
Even their fishing DVDs look cooler than ours! Has anyone tried purchasing one? I've ran across a few clips from trout fishing DVDs on youtube and I wanted to watch the full video instead of a 2 minute clip. There's also the matter of figuring out which DVD would be best to watch. I'm pretty confide...

Re: Need some help with replacing my broken NRX
It looks like Dobyn's has Champion Extremes with heavier power. The DX703, DX763 and DX764 could potentially be what you're looking for. Heavy spinning reels aren't really my thing, but those might work.

Re: Preferred Rigs for Dock Skipping???
I skip okay with a 7' rod so that should work even better! Now if only there were spots where I could actually use that technique here in So Cal instead of just practicing it for fun in open water.
