Re: Frog Reel search

Out of the ones that you mentioned I would opt for the Bantam HG or a Zillion HD. You need some decent line capacity for 50/50 pound braid and the reel needs to be sturdy and still able to cast far (especially if you are a bank fisherman).

Cheers!

Where to get new gears for my SV103XS?

Hi all, was out yesterday on the lake. And besides it being a pretty bad day of fishing, I also was not lucky with my SV103. On a cast the clutch tried to engaged and it sounded like the teeth on the gears where just running over another. Well, what was a buttery smooth reel 2mins before sounded and...

Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?

I received the 1520 l Nice reel Very smooth But I m NOT satisfied about the spool I prefer a bigger spool for more line Cool! Have you any other reels that you can compare it to (Conquest, Antares, etc.)? 100m of 20 pound is not enough for you, what applications do you need that much line for? Than...

Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?

Hi,

I am wondering if there are reviews/ well informed opinions out on the new Ryoga.

I love my Conquests, but the idea to have another round reel that has a spool that is compatible with my Steez SV TWS, Steez A, SV103 is intriguing.

Would be looking int the 5 ratio reel for deep cranks.

Thanks

Re: Conquest vs Ryoga

I have the 5 speed 1016 reel. I plan on using it on a megabass launcher for xd6 and dd22 type lures. Hopefully I will have it out sunday on the water but not sure there will be a mid to deep crank bite in my area. I spooled it with 13lb defier last night as i think we will still have some cold days...

Sweet! How much line does the 1016 hold? I am reading conflicting stats.
Thanks.

Re: Which 12 pound fluro to get?

Shooter will have less stretch also, which is good for setting heavier diameter jig hooks. Shooter is also harder and does well around hard objects (wood and rock). It resists abrasion as well any non-leader material fluoro that I have tried. I always try to fish the heaviest hook that I can get aw...

Re: Conquest vs Ryoga

I am looking to add a Ryoga as well. Wondering though which gear ratio to get. Would be using the reel maily for cranbaits, so naturally the 5.x:1 would most sense. How would the 6.x:1 handle deep cranks?

Thanks!

Re: Which 12 pound fluro to get?

I use sniper fc and invisix on my moving rigs.

But for my more finesse rig I want the absolute 'best' FC line.

What I am hearing so far is:

* Tatsu: very good manageability, has some stretch (less thatn Invisix?!)
* Shooter: not as good in manageability as Tatsu but is more sensitive

Thoughts?

Would be mostly open water. I have other rigs for non-open water applications.

Which 12 pound fluro to get?

Hi all, I am looking for a super sensitive fluro line that I want to use on my 1/4-3/8 oz Jig set up (Steez SV TWS on Orochi Spinnerbait Special). Currently I am running 14# Sunline FC Sniper, but I would like to reduce the diameter and also increase the sensitivity of the line. Of course I am looki...

Re: MajorCraft Benkai packing rods

I use a UL version with a 2016 Aldebaran BFS. I think for the price it is a decent rod. The manufacturing is def on the better side. If you are on a budget and do not need the most sensitive rod, give it a try.

WHy are you so fixed on the Steez A? The reel is a great all around reel, but for your dedicated use cases there are better options out there.

Re: Which Steez for chucking and winding, which for flip n pitch?

I have both reels (6.3 for Steez A and 7.1 for Steez SV TWS). For Flipping in coverI would go with a 8.1 JDM Steez A. Better and cheaper: consider a Zillion HD or a SV10XS. For cranking you can probably use a Steez A 6.3:1 - I was thinking of testing my Steez A as well for cranks. A slower gear rati...
