Re: Swimbait Question
Just wondering if anyone else has wondered, or even tried this. I have a few Huddleston trout swimbaits. None of the local lake here in Maryland have trout stocked, but has anyone tried throwing one? Im going to try it, regardless, just curious if anyone has had luck with this. Should I put my time...

Re: Dobyns @ ICAST
Thanks for the clarification guys. I've never fished the 805CB. Deep divers just isn't my thing. Summer time means combat fishing around here. :D I found the 704CB Glass too moderate for my liking. Huge difference in power when going to 705CBMF Glass or 705CB Glass (fast action). The 705CBMF is lik...

Re: Dobyns @ ICAST
hopefully they will release a sub 7' rod in the DX line up! I better start selling some stuff now......... I wouldn't count on that. From everything I've read/heard Gary won't fish anything less than 7'. I'm surprised they even have a few in the other series. Wait a minute now. Just because gary wo...

Re: Dobyns history - article from Yamamoto Inside Line
Now that Gary mfg's his own rods he only uses his own rods.. He also used alot of customs before getting into the rod business. He had a neighbor (Lynn Williams) that is a custom builder so he was able to get some insight in the building process as well before delving into the rod business himself. ...

I throw a 5" bull shad on the 743C Extreme you should have no problem throwing a Matt Lures on the 734C...
I did this video with the 743 Extreme..

Re: best Dobyns rod for jerkbaits?
civicrr summed it up pretty well on the 704glass. It's a softer rod than what I remember about the Croix you mentioned. I'm in the soft rod category as I have zero cover to worry about in my lakes. It bends a good bit down the blank as well before it loads up so the 705glass would fit your needs bet...

Re: best Dobyns rod for jerkbaits?
I absolutely love that rod.. Its one of those rods that when you get bit the suckers not going to get off. It is an absolute blast to fish and it feels like a feather paired with a Lews Tournament Pro Reel. I fish Pointer 78DD's, Bevy Shads, Pointer 78's no problem. I rigged a scrounger on it for a ...

Re: Bucca BullShad V2 Sneak Peak
All the baits going out now are slow sinks and in 6 inches in Gizzard or Threadfin. Sorry for the confusion there. TW has the GEN 1 pics still up but they are selling the GEN 2 baits and NOT the GEN 1.. Gen 1 no longer.. Anywhere you order you will get a GEN 2 bait. Hope this helps :) Here's a littl...

Re: Fiberglass or graphite?
Glass rods are my utility rods. I like them because they are more versatile than graphite. With one glass rod I can throw a wide variety of cranks, traps, jerks, topwater, spinnerbaits, scroungers, swimbaits, buzzbaits with one rod etc etc. I find that I also lose less fish. The Dobyns glass rods ar...

Re: Similarities between Patriarch XT and Lew's Tournament P
I've got a couple Tournament Pros and really like them. In fact I rarely throw anything much heavier than 1/4oz and today, it was a 1/4oz jig with a 3" grub for a trailer. Throwing that into 15mph winds and no issues. Those reels with throw some line too! No idea how it compares to the Patriarch be...
Re: dx702c
I agree 703 would be a better all around bottom bouncing rod and like civic stated it would handle senkos great. I actually like 3 power rods for spooning as well.
