Re: Shimano reel names

What's in a name?

Does a z matrix cross wrap, unobtanium fused rod, called an Chupacabra Slingshot Exxxtinction Level Event Phase x13 Gremlin Vega Yugo Type R sound better?

I agree some names suck, like deep throat custom suck...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Because of the unstable and unseasonably cool weather it's been a tough finding the big 'uns this season so far, so I've been doing a lot of ultralight & BFS fishing. One lake in particular I fish is an excellent lake for this because of the large variety of fish. You truly never know what will bit...

Re: American Tackle G2 Carbon Handles

How did you do it? 1st inner hole for ULH and then shaping outer dimension for perfect? Looks very good! Yea. Bore the ID to fit the hood, then turn the OD. I made bushings to hold the acrylic on my 1/2" mandrel. It is quite thin once shaped to the proper size. https://i.postimg.cc/jdstcw4Y/2020040...

Re: American Tackle G2 Carbon Handles

Please do. I'd much rather use the Ecs, rather than taking a gamble on one of the AT seats. Never tried any of them. https://i.postimg.cc/65ZjZc85/20200417-162716.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Qd0pKKJd/20200516-105823.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/GmcFpxYf/20200516-105813.jpg That hood though! Thanks man! X2...

I am just completely overwhelmed at the sheer number of options. I'm all about that bait finesse, can any of these match the Super Eiger? :-k I will be waiting in the wings to see...

Re: Need Help, New Spinning Reel

Don't know what rod you are using, but I would also say the new Certate. All of my older Certates, have never let me down, and are still smooth as the day I bought them. If you don't want to spend the extra coin, the Daiwa Tatula is a lighter alternative. But if it were me, I would hunt down a used ...

#69? I think that's going to be a little difficult to beat. What type of spool is in there?

Re: Most forgiving baitcaster

My son's first baitcaster was an Aldebaran BFS ;) ... the key to learning spool control is teaching them how to pitch before casting. That way, they can practice thumbing the spool at slower speeds so the backlashes aren't as bad. Then, when they can pitch a good distance with a casting plug, you c...

Re: Most forgiving baitcaster

I will say that my son, at 6 years old, is actually pretty decent at casting with a baitcaster, as long as I do the adjustments for him. The little sucker can never sit still for anything, but he can literally fish 6 hours straight, not catch a fish, but just loves casting various lures. On our last...

Re: Most forgiving baitcaster

Smart choice on the Lews given how tiny some of their reels are. I feel as though just about any reel can become "forgiving" when you put the breaks on enough. It just depends on how far you plan on casting at that point! I've never seen the Lew reels in person. Which ones have the smallest profile?
