Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread
A saving of just 9g does not justify the grief that alloy gears can give. Just wish they would stick with brass.

Re: Curado K gears
Best upgrade going for the 13 Met. Transformed mine to the point where its smoothness matches the Conquest 100HG. Why do reel companies persist with alloy gears? The weight saving is peanuts in my book.

Re: ultra light casting rod?
For a bit of fun I ordered the Tsurinoya Proflex II, 1.89m C632UL which is rated for lure weights 2-8g. For a US$68 2-piece rod shipped via EMS, I was surprised at the finish - the epoxy work was clean, the cork was as good, and the Fuji reel seat and guides were all perfectly aligned. The blank is ...

Brass, and guaranteed to get rid of the ‘Metanium buzz’ if you have one of these reels. TTT sells the gear set for this purpose.

Brenious. You can get an Avail deep spool from Japantackle or Hedgehog. Great reel and has the 50E form factor. I use mine for both finesse and general purpose.

Re: Shimano 50/51 Calcutta Owners, Reel Seat Question
Cut a strip of plastic from a container that is the same size as the reel foot. Use this as a pad between reel and rod. Had the same problem when mounting a Conquest 100hg on a Steez Blitz. Now rock solid.

Re: BFS REEL ????
How smooth is the Alphas Air and does it give much distance? Seem to see a lot of used ones for sale.Dalleinf wrote:If 1/8 oz and below then the Pixy need a new spool, eg DIY.RIng wrote:I would like to use 1/8 oz and maybe lighter .
For that kind of weight range the Scorpion BFS or Alphas Air is better out of the box.

Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread
a renowned reel repair guy on another board is telling me to have low expectations of this change. He says just because it fits does not mean it will hold up. Would be nice if someone installs this and fishes it hard for 4 months before we all go in on this ide ;) Your choice as to who to believe. ...

Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread
Only the drive gear is compatible. You must use the Met pinion. Still a great fix to the buzzing gear issue. Not True. Tackle Trap has supplied me with 8 sets of Curado K gears sets (Main gear & Pinion). Its compatible. The tackle trap changed the first two for me which where XG's & I got them to i...

Re: Knot question
Get the Daichii Knot Tool 2.0. Holds the line in place and is a snack to use. I use it for all braid strengths from 6lb to 40lb and leaders from 6lb to 45lb. Comes with instructions, showing how to tie a Rizutto finish. Essential to pull hard on the knot until the braid changes colour before you ti...
