Re: BPS Pro Qualifier : Would You Buy ?
I've owned a few bps reels but at the 100 dollar price point...... I wouldn't buy. You can buy tatulas for 109 shipped, so the PQ at 100 is a hard sale.

Re: Powerful, but fast retrieve low profile
Revo toro nacl, 30 ipt on the 6.4 I believe. Its what I'm using for muskies and big lures, I don't use it for pounders but it could handle it. I have no trouble with 8 oz baits or even burning big cowgirls. It should work great on Dorado. I don't have a lexa but they seem to be doing well on the mus...

Re: combo for small cranks
Thanks for the info on the klx. Do you feel you can effectively throw small cranks like flicker shads and shad raps with that rod?

Re: combo for small cranks
I wanted to do custom but she didn't give me enough time, her birthday is the 22nd. I'll ask her if she can wait. If not I can get doby s champion extremes for 20% off at the hook up tackle. My only question is do I get the 701 or the 702? The 701 is rated with1/8 right in the middle but I feel it m...

Re: combo for small cranks
Thanks for the info. Anyone have any thoughts on the DX 702C Finesse from dobyns? Seems like it might fit the bill for a rod.

combo for small cranks
My wife said she wants a new rod and reel for her birthday. So I'm shopping. I need advice though, she wants a baitcaster for throwing 1/8 oz flickershads. Its her go to bait and she doesn't like having to use a spinning rod. Would a chronarch 50 work? I prefer daiwas but a pxr seems like a bit more...

Re: Reel for baits 2-4oz? Northern Pike fishing - what model
I use the toro nacl reels for the lighter stuff, for big blades I use a tranx. If you ever plan on throwing double cowgirls all day get a tranx. It might be overkill for most pike fishing though.

Re: Tatula vs Tatula R?
I'm trying out the non r version with upgraded bearings and I'm curious how it will compare with my r version. I figured with the non r version costing $100 delivered why not try it. I'll let you know how they compare when I get back to the states.

Move up to the pro angler http://www.hobiecat.com/mirage/mirage-pro-angler-14/
I used this boat in the ocean for tarpon, grouper, sharks, kingfish and all of the shallow inshore fish. You can even put a trolling motor on it I think. Only issue is weight, but if you are using a trailer its a wash.

Re: things to buy in Japan?
Yeah a usual layover probably isn't enough time, but I will be shooting for a full 24 hour layover. The issue is I'm headed to the Philippines to do some marine surveys, so I probably won't even go through narita. Hopefully I'll have an itinerary tomorrow. More then likely I'll be going through Nago...

I figure I will just walk into the shop with no Japanese language knowledge, but an open pocketbook lol. I expect to blow all my money on crankbaits alone.

things to buy in Japan?
So I'm a long time lurker but thought I would ask the experts for their opinion. I leave Friday for the Philippines for 34 days and I plan on taking a day in Japan on the way back. Not sure which airport yet but I'm hoping for Narita. So what are the things I have to buy while there? I probably won'...

Re: Is the Native Watercraft "Ultimate 12" Fishing Kayak ...
Finally a topic I can speak to lol. I used a native 14 for years while living in Tampa Florida. I mounted the rods on a milk crate and put a slight angle on the mounts so they pointed back so I wouldn't hook them. Or I had a few friends that used scotty mounts to mount them horizontal behind the sea...
