Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS
To reinforce the pictures, my Conquest 51 and old Calcutta 51 are slightly larger than my 14 Calcutta Conquest 101 and the Conquest BFS. The old ones are just over 2" and the new ones are just under 2". Certainly the handle side is much larger on the new ones due to the gear housing but they feel gr...

Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS
Well guys I have the reel and I have pictures, but I can not figure out how to post them on here. Sorry, I'm sure one of the other guys who purchased one will post some pictures. What I can tell you is it is the same size as my regular CQ101. While the reel in total may be larger than my CQ51 and my...

Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS
Just picked my up this morning. First impressions are great. Unfortunately it will be a couple days before I can spool it up and try it out.

Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS
I just got home after being gone most of the day and had a slip in the mailbox saying they tried to deliver my Conquest. Not bad considering on Wednesday they emailed me and said it would ship on Thursday. Three days from Japan. The down side is I will have to wait until Monday to go pick it up. You...

Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS
Mine is a lefty. Basically it is $50 cheaper at Japan Lure Shop. Shipping was $20 at Japan Tackle, I don't know what it is at JPlure shop. My impatience cost me some money. I don't know if the brake is identical to the Aldebaran but the concept is the same I believe.

Calcutta Conquest BFS
Just received an email from Japan Tackle and my Conquest BFS is on the way. I am normally a Daiwa guy but I can't resist Calcuttas.

Re: New Shimano rods
There is certainly a market for $100 rods. Not many on TT will care about them, but they may sell well.

Have handled the Exage. Previous posters are right, nothing to get excited about.

Re: Need some advice/info about BFS reel.
Is there a BFS capable spool for the Ryoga 1016? If this is a stupid question please be kind. Other than change out some handles I have never modified a reel. I also have a older Calcutta Conquest 51 is one available for that? The next question is where?

Re: Shimano 500 reels
No matter what we on TT think there is a market for 500 series reels. I work at a sporting goods store part time as a retirement job. I often see people who are interested in buying the smallest reel possible. In the market at this time they do not have many choices. I have nothing bad to say about ...

Re: Daiwa BG 2500 spinning
Wish I had more information for you. I just got a 1500 last week. Do not even have line on it yet but it is very smooth and very solid feeling. On the other side it is heavy for it's size. If I read the information correctly it has both an aluminum frame and side plate. There is a saltwater focused ...

Re: Shimano 500 reels
I am well aware that the BG is an aluminum reel, but certainly was not aware of the exhaustive review by Alan Hawk. This whole thing makes me rethink my search for the lightest possible reel for the intended purpose. As stated I purchased the reel because I got a "deal" on it. I have not fished it y...

Re: Shimano 500 reels
I pretty much agree with you on all points. Certainly the JDM reels are available but they tend to be more than most will spend on a spinning reel. If the profit is not there the manufacturers are not going to spend the money. I am always amazed at the number of people who buy the cheapest reel/rod ...

Re: Shimano 500 reels
To kind of revisit this subject it seems the 500 size reels have been lower down when it comes to RnD from the big companies. At this point if I was determined to buy a true 500 I would line up for the President. I am not sure our chase for the lightest most compact is the best path. It seems to me ...

Hey jtgibso
If you don't mind, what was shipping on your one piece rod.
