Spool Questions ZPI/G1

I'm just starting to dive back into Daiwa's and wanting to try a new spool. Got a bunch of questions. 1. I'm a little confused on all the G1 spools. What I've read, it's a great spool that is lighter that the SV103 spool. What is the difference between the Zillion SV G1 spool that the Trap sells (wh...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner recommendation.

I got a $40 one from Amazon, worked really well but quit in about 6 months. Contacted the company and they sent out a brand new one no questions asked, which again works great. So I think I would recommend that one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q2M17K/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&p...

Re: Shimano curado 71 handle knob not smooth

Sounds like your shaft is messed up. Either it has a bur or it’s bent. Could be a bearing or bushing is messed up or has some grit in it. I think the 70/71’s shipped with one bearing and one bushing in the knob. You can try replacing them with two new bearings. eBay has them for 99 cents a piece. Yo...

Re: A rod ahead of its time

The Point Blank rod blanks fish differently than the other blanks that I have fished. They are very sensitive, light, and strong. The price is very reasonable for how good they are. They remind me of the handful of NRX blanks that I have fished. They have a very thick and stiff butt section, combin...

Re: SVS braking issue

The majority of my fishing is either super early morning or at night. Therefore visually it’s tough to know where the dial is. And there are no nibs or anything so I can feel it. I realize that the majority of my issue is pure habit from my Quantums and my Lew’s BB1 Pros and Team Lew’s but I really...

Re: SVS braking issue

Why can't you see where the dial is? Turn the reel over and look at your dial. It doesn't change from cast to cast unless you move it or it's come loose. Set the tabs to 2 on and 2 off. Dial to max and work it down.

If you cannot remember that setting from day to day, I don't know what to tell you.

Re: Dock skipping setup

You should be able to skip fairly easily with a loose ccc and max on the mag dial. I found that increasing spool tension reduced skipping distance and didn't make it any more easy to skip. It takes a little time and practice to get the muscle memory to make the roll casts pitch skips. Once you get ...

Re: Tackle Trap/Pike Road Reel Service

I just got off the phone with Bryan. Had a question about some parts I purchased from the Trap and the installation process. He was able to fix me up. After I hung up, I started thinking. Hell, he could have just said you are SOL or send it to him. 20-25 bucks for shipping, whatever he charges for r...

Re: Dock skipping setup

Nicely done sir! I love my Steez! People talk about them not handling heavier baits as well but frankly I've thrown 1 oz jigs + trailer with zero feeling of flex or anything. They're just really lightweight, solid and strong. As they should be for a flagship reel. Thank you sir. I agree. I jig and ...

Re: Dock skipping setup

Nicely done. You have a endless number of spools that fill fit that platform. The SS SV spool is the most controlled and skip friendly of the bunch but limited in other uses. You might want to look into the new ZPI spools too. Thank you. I'm looking to try the SS spool and the G1 spool too eventual...
