Re: KVD 1.5 replacement hooks

#2 or #4 Mustad KVDs on the 1.5 size. They come with #4 so I like to upsize when I need to. I use the #4 more often though. Rarely ever lose fish on either.

Re: Shimano Gen. 1 Cumara Reaction Questions

The 6'9 M is a great rod for 3/8 spinnerbaits,1/2oz works ok but is a little light in power for this. It is a great soft jerkbait rod to. The MH works a lot better for 1/2oz and even 3/4oz spinerbaits. The 7' M is a good shallow crank rod but a little soft for jerkbaits and lipless. For open water i...

Re: Bearing flushing questions

Does the TSI 301 make the bearings noisy? It's only good for SS bearings I read somewhere.... No it does not make them loud. Once they get loud you know it's time to reapply, usually after 9 months or more. Only works with any kind of metal surface, it won't bond to ceramic. I've still used it to p...

Re: What color will the new curado be

I don't know that the shortening of the Curado (nose to back) is a good thing. Pushing the levelwind line guide closer to the spool increases the angles at which outgoing line approaches that line guide and should decrease casting distance vs. a further-forward guide. I suppose this was a tradeoff ...

Re: Held the new Curado 200I (HG) today...

So many ci4+'s are going to be on sale in the classifieds after the curado I starts spreading. What's not to love about the curado? It has a new spool design, aluminum frame, and swinging sideplate/escape hatch. It also has the same sideplate release switch and brake adjustment dial as the me...

Re: What color will the new curado be

I would find it pretty ridiculous to take bearings out of the inside of the real and put them in the handle instead. Don't see why they would add xship and make one or both bearings a bushing or the driveshaft bearing a bushing. Can add two bearings per knob ... \:D/ Excuse the pics. Taken at hotel...

Re: Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?

Another thing is Shimano is not selling parts to the CI4+ yet so if you ruin the pinion gear you may be out of luck for a while. Just a thought.

Re: Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?

Just talking out of my back end here. Isn't it easier to drill press / machine / dremel the inside of the pinion gear instead? It's brass compared to the harden steel on the spool shaft. Also, pinyon gear is cheaper if you screw up. Isn't there a bearing on the pinion gear that the spool shaft ente...

Re: finally...JDM Shimano rods in north america.

At least they will be available local. Buy them during a sale and will probably be cheaper than coming from Japan with shipping and no warranty.

Weightless flukes cast very well. Fish them all the time with my CI4+ for speckled trout.

Re: Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?

I have thrown x-rap 08 and Rc 0.5 with it no problem but also don't have issues throwing these on 200e size reels. Chronarch casts them further and easier though. Have also thrown trick worms with 1/32oz tungsten pretty well. Sorry, don't have any specific lengths though.

Re: what would you use this falcon bucoo for?

My buddy uses that same rod for frogs. H/mf rods are great for frogs, same power and action I use in a different rod. Never miss fish. The slower action lets the fish get the frog good before reacting to fast. Then in other seasons use it for Lipless cranks and squarebills would be great on it to.
