Re: Curado G

I agree that it is not a QC issue, but you would expect that tolerances on these reels should not have such a poor build quality. The odd shim here and there is something that most reels have, yet I can not accept that every reel has a variation on tolerances, requiring adjustment. Parts are not eas...

Re: Curado G

The brake case spacer BNT3934 is the worse of them. Spool tension spacer BNT 2224 is another. Some need to be added, others removed. Generally the spool tension spacer in most reels is a single unit, Have seen many G series with 2 of them. That is in addition to BNT1696 cast control spacer. Also foun...

Re: Curado G

Hi Slazmo, I was one of those that chose to pass on the G series, as I saw to many with issues. The E series spoiled me, and still prefer that to the G. As I have worked on literally hundreds of the G series, I was able to notice that there were a few, very few, that were assembled well, and were ab...

Re: Round reel love?

Good day Slazmo, The CT50B is a pure joy to work on, and I have no problem with them. It was the original CT50 that I am referring to. The tolerances on the drive gear and drag system was so tight, that it is a hit and miss job getting them to work correctly. I recall a post on another forum some ye...

Re: Round reel love?

When I first started with baitcasters I was using Abu 4600CB's, and then got onto some of the early Shimano Bantam's. Round reels were always my favorite, but, they were only available in slower retrieves then, so moved onto low profile stuff. Still use my Calcutta TE's, DC's, Calcutta D200,Conquest...

Re: Curado 70XG

My opinion is that the drag stack height would be seriously compromised if the spacer is missing. Also, the key washer would have additional stress in that area that the spacer fits in.

It may feel right, but not for long.

Cheers.

Re: Best grease and oil for servicing reels. 2019 edition.

The average angler does not worry about the free spin time of their spool bearings, so any oil, 3in1 machine oil especially, will be fine.

For those on TT, the oil is of paramount importance, as it is a test of how well the tech serviced your reel !!

Cheers.

Re: buying bearings in bulk

Thanks for the feed back LOR.

May I ask that you do a review in around 3 months time, as my experience shows they are only good for 10 or 12 outings, and are then binned.
The OEM Shimano bearings are still good after 10 years of use !!

Best.

Re: Calais dc brass gears?

I never tried, but do not believe it is possible. The brass gear from the 200A is smaller in diameter and thicker.

Would be interested to know if there is a brass alternative, as I replace more DC main gear and pinion gears on these than any other reel.

Cheers,

Terry.

Re: Shimano VBS brake block sizes - what fits what ?

Oh, sorry !

The brake block is part of the spool, so not available as a separate item to purchase. You might be better off buying an old spool, or a donor reel.

What is wrong with yours ? If you still have all the pins, you can repair the case with some super-glue.

Cheers.

Re: Shimano VBS brake block sizes - what fits what ?

Part number BNT1713 is compatible with at least 50 other Shimano reels.

Look up https://www.ereplacementparts.com/brake ... 41115.html, and take your pick.

Re: Shimano Antares 221 Roller Clutch HELP!

It needs to be pressed in towards the inside. There is a bearing holder that will probably press out with the pressure, and then you will need to have this supported to press the bearing out. If that makes sense. I have highlighted the holder in your picture.

Cheers.
